I know we're still in the voting stage, but I can't help wondering about the next phase of the project. Are we still shooting to have Act 1 written by the end of the month?
I'm really wondering, too, what the next steps are once a storyframe is chosen. Do we then come up with a scene list, and how is that accomplished? Choose POV characters and their varying arcs?
I'm really wondering if, when we know what the frame is going to be, we need to get down and do a liitle more story-specific worldbuilding and developement. Like, what are the rules of magic, what is the planet's timescale, what's the flora and fauna, the gov't on both sides, descriptions of settings and objects, religion, cultural stuff...well, you name it. We hashed out large generalities this month, but I wonder if we need more time to now detail on those generalities.
My concern is that if we don't spend some time hammering out the specifics that when we go to write the story itself will be patchwork in the extreme, as we'll all be forced to make up the majority of the settings and generalities on the go. I think spec-fic, especially in this case where it's coming from more than one person, needs a bit more care than your average story!
Ala no boundaries = no story.

Thanks for raising this question, dulci.
I was just about to sit down and write the "what comes next" message when I saw your header. It's a great segue.
As of this writing we've had six votes on the synopsis: 4 in favor of dulci's synopsis and 2 in favor of Jeff's. I was holding the polls open a few more days in hopes that more folks would register their votes. But it appears that's all we're going to get for now.
So let's move forward.
Because this is all a grand experiment, I don't have good answers for what you've asked, dulci. We're the ones who are going to figure all that out! By doing.
After I finish this message I'm going to go create the "story bible" for our tale. The first version of the story bible probably won't contain much more than the synopsis (dulci's). Perhaps we'll do future versions that will contain more information as we hammer more of it out.
I am hoping to get Act I written in April, though that may not be feasible. We'll just see.
Jeff
