tris, also consider the role of genetics with your colony. That's a pretty small sized group and over time (couple hundred years) you may get a higher incidence of hereditary diseases, much like the nobility in Europe would inherit things like hemophilia because they'd marry within royalty. Also the Ashkenazi Jews, as they marry within the Jewish community are noted to have a higher percentage of rare, inherited disease.

By my random math jottings which make little sense outside of my head... given birth rates minus death rates, factor in years before the children can have children (approximately 20 to 30 years) I would estimate about 50,000 people about 120 years in, add in the newcomers plus immigration and I'd say you'd end up with 60,000 to 100,000. That doesn't include infant mortality rates, disease, medical advancements, technology, or environment factors though. In a bubble that's what I came up with, so it's more like 40,000 to 50,000 once you take in survival rates. That's just me

Sabre
That's the figure I needed! Many thanks. It at least gives me an idea of how spread out things need to be and also limits me so I don't automatically assume I've got a vast workforce.
Andy, the inbreeding thing wouldn't really be a problem, since the immigrants aren't from one people group. Although similar in background and philosphy you still have a wide variety of different cultural groups and believe me they aren't sticking to their own little niche. I appreciate you checking on the details though. It would have been something to consider, especially with the small group.
Thanks for all the help. One of the best parts of this forum is getting help on topics we aren't familiar with, like population groups. It gave me lots of things to consider.
