My cousin and I are doing an art challenge. The subject was to take a commonly represented theme and do a twist on it. The theme? Elves in Moonlight. While I was considering my options for this challenge I came up with this idea.
A forest world inhabited by Elves and Dark Elves. These two species have been feuding for centries, when a robotic army moves in. This robotic force travels through worlds stripping it of it's resources. They have never been stopped before. The Elves and Dark Elves join together to fight this destructive force that threatens their homeworld.
Please tell me what you think of this story idea.
P.s. I call this idea Artificial Moonlight

I think it's a cool idea. You could even put a sort of environmental spin on it, like they did in Tokyo Mew Mew, where the alien enemies were only attacking Earth because their ancestors were banished from Earth to a planet that has now become ecologically inhabitable, and they want to leave that planet and live on Earth again. But their aims are hindered by the show's heroes, the Mew Mews - five girls injected with the genes of different endangered species as part of a scientific experiment called the Mew Project, conducted by two guys named Ryo and Keiichiro.
But I digress.

This is awesome, ryain. Terrific idea. You could sell this book to people just by saying the premise: elves vs. robots.
It reminds me of the class I teach at Christian writers' conferences: Elves, Demons, and Space Marines.
It also reminds me of the collaborative fiction project that launched The Anomaly in the first place. The idea was that a SF civilization invades a fantasy world. Same idea but yours has a fun twist.
Love it.

I'd read it!
I wonder if a sequel might include a half-elf-half-bot cyborg: a blending of magic and tech in a single character.

Thanks! I did do some thinking and came up with the robot's background. They were once a normal living species but when extiction threatened their planet they found a way to transfer their souls into robotic machines. As they move through worlds, taking all resources and leaving them lifeless and barren, they form new robots designed after the inhabitants of the world. Their leader is a giant "computer" called the MIND. This "computer" relays it's will through a conduit, a robot. Oh, and as to the sequel idea. One of the ideas for a character was going to be an elf that was capture and created into a cyborg. But it would make a good sequel. I guess great minds think alike.
