Almarquardt, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad Grieving and healing takes time, even when the one we loved is with God. I will pray for you and your family. Morgan

I'm so sorry. I know what you're going through... you have my utmost empathy. I'm glad he's safe and sound and home.

No apologies necessary. My deep condolences on your loss. How are you adjusting now that I imagine all the post funeral hubbub has quieted and life is back in full swing?
It is a bittersweet thing to know someone we love is in the presence of the Lord. Thanks for sharing your story.

My best memories of him were when we spent the weekends at the local reservoir as my sister and I were growing up. When I found his swimming shorts as I helped pack up his clothes for the local second-hand store, a flood of those memories bore down on me. I had to walk away for a while.
We decided to take care of his stuff and his remains as quickly as possible (he wanted to be cremated, and no funeral services), because we all figured the longer we waited, the more difficult it would be. I'm really glad we did.
Even now when the phone rings at noon (when he normally called us), my initial thought is that it's him.
I also find myself wanting to ask him questions about subjects he knew a lot about. So, yes, it's bittersweet knowing that he's with Jesus, but no longer with us.
Thank you again for all your thoughts and prayers.
