I am studying an argumentative science concept from a non fiction book that I may want to use in a story. If I present it in my character's own words though still basically it will be a summary of the unique idea used in this book, how much of the hypothesis can I use without having to give credit to the scientist/author? I’ve never seen this concept argued before and intend to look about and see if anyone else is saying what he is saying but if I don’t find it, can I use his idea in fiction without citing him? He makes his point in a very logical and well laid out fashion using mathmatics. It would be difficult to share it covincingly without similarity to his presentation. I am unfamiliar with what is acceptable in the Science Fiction genre regarding this kind of thing so any help would be appreciated.

I'd e-mail the author in question and ask them, it's their idea after all.
God bless--CS

I guess I should have searched the internet before I asked. There are a small few out there that aparently are saying the same thing so I guess I have a lot of reading to do. Emailing him is a good idea though. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks CS
