My oldest son is ill. I mentioned this in the hours thread, but thought I'd give details here. He has had constipation of some degree since he was weeks old. He's three now, and the doctors have diagnosed it. He has "intestinal neuronal dysplasia," that means the nerves in his colon are disorganized and don't know when to fire. We do irrigations 3 times a day and have a followup next Thursday and some tests to find out how much of his colon does work. He's been hospitalized 3 times for this since mid December. We won't be surprised if this set of tests will have a stay involved. Thank you for your prayers.

So sorry to hear about your ongoing ordeal with your son's condition, Frank. I pray the doctors will be able to find a solution to his situation and get him on the mend.

Wow, will be praying. Hope the doctors find the answer. I have a friend with a son who has been ill since he was very young. She is a strong Christian. She prayed for her son and started having dreams about changing his diet. He is healed now after five years of seeking God's plan for health. Her website is www.3stroudsons.com You can read Braxton's story there. Don't know if any of her info can help you, but he had very similar problems.

I'm keeping a seizure disorder (kinda) and chronic, unending, mess-up-your-vision headaches under control with diet. It's amazing what kind of systemic problems diet can cause ... and many doctors won't consent to look at diet as a source of trouble outside of diabetes and heart conditions.

Fluke, I understand what you're going through. Our youngest son (now 21) was finally diagnosed at age 12 with encopresis...nearly the same thing, but also involves an enlarged colon. While it is hard to manage with a 3 year old, diet is extremely important; i.e. no white breads or other things that will gum up the intestines and make it harder for the digestive system to work. Old standbys like apple juice and prune juice (and oatmeal cookies!) do wonders for helping keep things soft and moving. And lots and lots and LOTS of patience. I cannot tell you the grief and remorse we've had to deal with because we did not know anything was wrong with our son.
I mainly want to encourage you and let you know what a blessing it is the doctors were able to diagnose your son so early. The earlier the diagnose the quicker the healing. I will be praying for you and your family and am here whenever you and your wife need someone to talk to.
