Thanks Dave, And like climbing a real mountain, there are a lot of false summits... After a 9 week wait (which I wrongly interpreted as my story having left the slush pile, but which really reflects the back-log of 800 submissions a month) I got a rejection letter from Asimov's for what I thought was my best story to date  . And no helpful comments! (This having devised whole series based on the same principle characters  ) Fortunately, I am just completing the 1st draft to my sequel to my story in Different Dragons, and have completed opening scene in a story for dragonlots new anthology. Both of which got me into the swing of writing regularly again. So I have enough momentum to swallow my disappointment and move on  . |
