This might sound silly, but since the wedding of Prince William and Catherine "Kate" Middleton was this morning, I thought it would be good to lift them up in prayer. They may be the Prince and Princess (or, rather, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, which are their official titles per the Queen's announcement this morning), but that doesn't mean their life's going to be all rosy from here on out. Britain's got economic problems too (which is why some Brits weren't too happy about having to foot the $20 million bill for the wedding security, which they'll pay through taxes), plus a recent poll in the Sunday Times showed that a large percentage of Brits think the succession should skip Prince Charles and go right to William, which means he could become king sooner than we think - a heavy responsibility to say the least.
As for Catherine/Kate, she's a commoner entering into a royal world. Sure, she seems to be handling it all very well - but she can still be surprised, judging from her reaction when the couple stepped out on the balcony of Buckingham Palace (she was clearly saying "wow"). So it may be a tough life for her from now on.
Anyway, I just feel compelled to pray for the two of them and that God will be with them on the road ahead.
The end of the Bishop of London's wedding sermon, which includes the prayer Will and Kate wrote especially for their wedding, sums my feelings up well, I think:
And I pray that God will bless you in the way of life that you have chosen, that way which is expressed in the prayer that you have composed together in preparation for this day:
God our Father, we thank you for our families; for the love that we share and for the joy of our marriage.
In the busyness of each day keep our eyes fixed on what is real and important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and energy.
Strengthened by our union help us to serve and comfort those who suffer. We ask this in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Amen.
