I really want to move out of my parents' house, especially now that I have my bachelor's degree. But unfortunately, apartment prices are really high in my area - most are at least $900 or $1,000/month for a 1-bedroom, some as high as $1,200/month. And I only make roughly $200, sometimes $250, a week at my current job after taxes and my union expenses (insurance and dues) are taken out, meaning my monthly take-home is at best $1,000/month (my hours vary every week, though I have to work at least 24 hours a week to keep my insurance). So just paying rent at one of these places would take all my money, or almost all of it, leaving little or nothing for food, clothes, transportation, tithing, and so on. And what if the rent was raised? Then what?
The only way it would work would be to have a roommate or two, and I don't know anyone who needs a roommate right now.
At what I make, all I can afford to do is rent a room, and that's not much different from me paying my parents rent every month to live with them. And with the economy being what it is, it would be too hard to find a higher-paying job right now, even if I had my web design certificate (which I started late and hopefully will have done by this time next year) already.
Please pray for me about this. I seriously think God knows I want this.

'Kay ... Careful that you don't get so anxious to move out that you get in over your head.

Praying for you, Walden...keep your eyes open for unusual circumstances. You never know when somebody will need a roommate to fill in for one who's moving on. I would ask around at church if you've got one you call home. Every now and again, somebody will have a little efficiency over their garage or something.

Praying for you too. Is your degree in web development? If so, there are a lot of administrative jobs that are looking for people who can also do websites (at least that is what I'm finding during my job search right now). Don't know if you would like that kind of job, but the pay is better than what you're making and they can be a good entry level job. Also, is moving an option? Like to a new town or city? Cost of living might be lower somewhere else. Just a thought

Hey Walden;
"Be anxious in nothing" my sister, "In everything let your requests be known unto God" and believe Him to give you the providential answer that will lead you to peace. (daves free paraphrase)
Both of our children lived at home until they got married. To quote my son, "We get a lot better deal here than we can get anywhere else." Living with family who love you is almost always better than living with strangers or friends who don't really have much invested in you.
From what I hear many young adults who do move out end up back home after a few years of "experience", it ain't easy to live on your own in this world.
When I was your age I wasn't a Christian so I'm sure my motives were quite different from yours. I wanted to live on my own (in the city) so I could party and get into stuff I knew my parents would never approve of. After I met Jesus (age 22) it took Him over six months just to get me untangled from the web of evil associations and sinful alliances that I'd gotten myself tangled up in. Unbelieving (and make-believing) friends and roommates can be real hindrances to our spiritual life, the more so when you are trying to live on your own and find yourself partly dependent on them.
Leaving home is a natural desire among young adults. You want to spread your wings and make a life for yourself. Carefully and prayerfully take this step. What seems natural is not always what is "Expedient". Wait on the Lord until He makes it clear to you which path you should take, then even your living arrangements will be able to bring Him glory and fulfill His purposes for your life.
Praying for you my sister, as you enter the battle of adult life, that The Lord will make your life count for time and eternity.
