Hey folks...you may have already run across this in other spots today, but I thought I'd cover all my bases.
My serial fiction, The Windrider, that was published in Digital Dragon Magazine in 2009-10 is getting a new shot at the market. Diminished Media Group, a newly established print and e publishing company (They are the same folks who publish Digital Dragon and A Flame in the Dark) is going to publish two seasons of my Windrider stories in ebook compilations, due out this fall. (October and November.) There's also a print version of both seasons together in the works, but the release date for that is TBD.
Fun stuff! Funny, how I've been putting so much energy into getting my novels to market, and this little thing that started "just for fun" is now the thing that is getting out there first.
Just goes to show, God's got plans that aren't necessarily what we imagine.

This Windrider serial sounded interesting when I heard about it before, but I wasn't motivated enough to start following the serial when it was almost over (or to catch up on it all). Are these ebook compilations of short stories? Also, you say that two seasons are being published -- how many seasons did you write? Actually, I've never really read a serial before; I didn't know they were divided into seasons. How does that work, if you don't mind the derail? Anyways, congratulations! (Sorry for the interrogation. )

Bainspal....the wording "season" is just one that I'm using. I don't know that anyone else who writes serial fiction uses the same terminology.
I wrote 13 stories for DDM that ran monthly for about a year, so it felt a little bit like a "season" of a television show. The stories had an overarching plot thread, but each week had a major event or sometimes a little lesson for the characters encapsulated within it. Season 1 completed its own plot arc, as does season 2, which I just finished writing and am now editing.
I have a potential third season percolating in my brain, but we shall see if I ever have need to develop that.
So the ebooks will compile the stories. Book one will contain the stories that ran in DDM , then book 2 will compile the episodes of season 2.
Does that clarify at all? I'm hoping there are a fair number of folks in your boat--people who were interested, but couldn't seem to get over to DDM for one reason or another, and now would be happy to read through all the stories if they have them in one place to pick up and continue when it's convenient. We shall see.

We shall see. Yes, I think so. The ebooks are going to have only the serial episodes, then, no other stories by other authors (which is what I was wondering). It will be interesting to see whether the ebook compilations essentially read like novels, with the individual segments simply being chapters, or whether the serial format will turn out to be a unique category of fiction.

How exciting, Becky! I'm still into "the real thing" when it comes to books, but I know that eventually I'll have to catch up to the digital revolution. Great cover!

Thanks, DtW. I am very pleased with how the cover came out--so thankful that I know some phenomenally talented people! And just fyi, after the first two ebooks come out of these stories, there should be a print compilation out in January. So if you don't go digital before then, you'll have options.

I will definitely check this out. I like serials... but I don't.... I like continuing adventures of the same characters, but I often forget about them before the next installment comes out, or can't wait to see what happens next... It's weird, I have a short attention span, yet I prefer to read a nice long novel as opposed to short stories. It feels almost like reading a teaser for a story instead of the whole story... and serials kinda give me a similar feel. So I like the compilations where I can sit and read for hours.

I love elves, and I'm longing to read this. I've already bought it on Amazon (The price was right! It's satisfying to be able to pay a small amount of money for something you really like, in some ways more satisfying than finding something good for free). Unfortunately, Divine Summons is going to have to stand in line for a while as I catch up on all the other things I've resolved to read. I hate college.

This has an epic title, and I'd love to read it. That it's short fiction makes it even more attractive to me in my busy life. I think the world is ready for a return to short fiction as momentary escapes in busy lives.
Will this be on the Nook store?
