I have a praise report, which is not something I usually make a big deal about telling people but I felt compelled to this time.
Last night, as some of you may know, there was a huge blackout throughout Southern California and parts of Arizona and Baja California, Mexico. Not sure what the cause was, though a power grid overload seems to be part of it (it's been REALLY hot this week around here, so a lot of people are running fans or air conditioners). Anyway, it started at about 3:40 p.m. and caused a lot of issues, including heavy traffic and lots of delayed buses and trains around the county because the traffic lights and railroad arms were down. Many stores and gas stations closed as did pretty much all the local schools.
I, fortunately, had gotten off work before the blackout happened, but was affected by the delayed buses as I tried to get home. I waited 2 hours for my bus and it did not come! After that, I was able to reach my dad (which was great cause cell phone service was kinda spotty too...I could text, get online on my phone, and use my Facebook and Twitter apps, but I couldn't get a call through) and he picked me up a little over half an hour later. I'm afraid that my lack of sleep the night before, my natural anxiety and impatience, and the heat caused me to be less than "Christian" (I.e., calm and assured that God would take care of this) than I should have been. Needless to say, I was very frustrated, as were other people waiting for the same bus, especially when all these buses went by that weren't our route.
My praise is that the power is now back on! It came back on about 10:30 last night, right after I went to bed, though I didn't notice it till about 2:20 this morning, when I noticed my alarm clock numbers were flashing. Everything infrastructure-wise seems to be back online too, including the buses.
Anyway, just wanted to share that. Don't know if anyone else here was affected by the same blackout or not.
