Well, it's what I'm dong too. The main character in the second book in The Guardian Chronicles is one of the minor ones from the first book. (Evelyn)
Also, someone yell at me... I haven't written anything in December!

Aaron: *smacks you* There! Get ye to writing! Even if it's only a paragraph, it will get the ball rolling. I've gotten stuck stories unstuck by adding one sentence per day.

I think that the 'chain of characters model' might be a standard "buy my next book strategy" for any fiction genre. It's just that I noticed it being used from book to book principally in romance novel series. I suppose once a given female POV is safely married or at least engaged then there isn't any more "falling in love, finally" romantic story potential left in her so the author moves on to her friends. Dave Webber, and his adopted collaborating authors, have used this technique in his Honorverse to launch new main POV characters in their own "book series careers", but each of his POVs typically remains the main POV through a chain of books. As to my other stories, they all need a lot of work. I wrote them during the more primitive stages of my writing and I haven't had the time to go back to try to salvage the story concepts. Maybe after I fininsh the time travel short for Dana. . . Speaking of which, I need to put some words into that story. Zander is back in the research stage right now. I've got to research special forces principles and tactics before I go ahead. Write on Sis SGD dave

Kessie;
I just noticed your page in the posted workbook at my Google Docs site.
It looks like you were putting in the daily wordcount instead of the total wordcount in column B.
Have you gotten this straightened out in the version you're using?

Ah! Thanks, I'll copy over my new totals. I was wondering why I had all those odd negative numbers.

Dave: Gee, I'm so clueless. Can you tell it's the first time I've ever touched a spreadsheet?
You can delete that old one, I got a new one working just fine. I followed all your instructions and it works like a charm now. Imagine that! Following instructions! :-D
Now I need to go write so I have some more numbers to plug into it.

Falling a little behind these last two days. Got a cold that I simply can't shake and I'm having a hard time concentrating. I'm not concerned as I'm only 1700 words behind my daily goal. I can make it up this weekend very easily.
How're you doing?

I'm all over the map. 600 words one night, 2000 words the next. What really sinks me is not having time to sit and plan out the next scene I'm going to write. If I sit down with no idea what happens next, I don't generally get much done.

Speaking of the antho I'm editing...who should I be expecting stories from?
My goals for this year are simple. I don't think in word count as much as projects that need to be finished.
1. Finish entry for contest at Baen 2. Revise & edit 'God's Gift' and get it to CH at WSP. 3. Write first draft of 'Winter Emergence' and if possible 'Winter Moon' to finish the trilogy. 4. Edit stories for 'Time Traveling Coffers' & write mine for it as well 5. Write stories for whatever opportunities come my way and share them with other writers. 6. Finish writing my romance 'Colorado Dance'. 7. 2013 contact Open Casket Press about maybe editing an antho for them.
Long range goals: 1. Win a Hugo or Nebula 2. Get a four book contract from Harlequin for one of the Love Inspired lines. 3. Movie deal

Dragonlots: I have one more set of crits to run through on my antho time travel submission, then I can format it up and send it in. I'm quite happy with the way it's coming along, but we'll see if it gets accepted. I didn't want to mess with it until after Christmas, though.

This is very cool beans!!! I need to check this thing out!
I could use a little accountability. Yikes. I would love to finish this novella before the new year...And I have a novel I should be working on. *sigh*
So, I should be writing, but I'll chk the sheet out tomorrow. Very cool, Dave!

Pixy;
Sounds like you've got a platterfull, sis.
Speaking of the Anthology, somebody slap me please. I'm stuck just after my first plot point and need a kick to get moving again.
1. I still have to plan the Conflict scenes, 2. get to my second plot point (decision point where POV decides to stay downtime) 3. plan the resolution scenes 4. and tie the ending back to my initial MacGuffin. Then there's always Zander waiting in the wings. I think I need to start that novel about a decade earlier for the main characters and their mission to make sense.

Hi all,
Here's an update.
First draft for Baen contest entry completed. Letting it sit for a few days before revising.
'God's Gift' revised and submitted to WolfSinger Publications.
Started writing a new book that happens about 2500-3000 years after GG. First chapter done, second started. Wasn't on my list to do but the idea sprang into my mind so I got it started. It's pretty much plotted out, just need to write it. It's one of those, been on the back burner for years and it's time for it to be birthed projects.
Right now, I have a great deal of time because I'm unemployed and I'm working PT as a tutor. Two of my students are out of town and two I will tutoring two days a week during the break. Still gives me five days to write - plus look for a job.
