RJJ: Well hey, glad to hear it! Post occasional progress reports to show how you're doing!
I just started a new story, myself. Spent several days outlining and writing character profiles, so we'll see how it goes. :-)
(Then my hubby said, "There needs to be assassins!" and now I have to revise my whole outline.)

Sorry about going all word-count in the last post. I need to inspire myself a bit from time to time. Got a few words banged out, so that's one day down.
Personally, I think that your husband is right. Assassins make just about any story better.

;D ;D
WOW!
"My Brothers Keeper" was just accepted for publication through "The Cross and the Cosmos" for their Dragon themed March edition.
This is my first published story.
I'm humbled by God's mercy and grace that He's brought me to this place. There were times when I didn't think I'd ever see this day.

Congrats, Dave! Now you'll start getting some recognition! :-) :-)
I submitted some cover art for the same issue and it just got accepted. Someday I'll write something worthy of publication, too!

Just checking in to see if people are still writing away. I lost track of how many words I've written, but since January I finished a new draft of one story and I'm plowing through another. Not sure how many words, but I have about 40 pages. Also a new idea hit me out of the blue as I woke up this morning, and it's been slapped into a new outline so I don't forget it. :-)

banging away at Island out of time; going to have to cut prose to get it under 6k.
but the story is starting to gel; don't know if I'll have room for pirates like my grandson advised ;D
Ah well going to make the theological points that I had in mind though, going to put them in the mouth of the female lead.

I have a little novella that's 15000 words. I'm thinking of practicing some editing techniques on it. Do know if I could submit it for publication anywhere? Maybe as a serial?

I've been naughty. I've started on the sixth draft of A New Threat, but I've gotten hardly anything done on it. I've also decided that I need a new series name, as several people have pointed out that there a about a billion "Guardian" series out right now. (Seems I see a new one in every Amazon newsletter...)

My Time Travel / Romance, "Island out of Time" v.08, is "finished" ;D ;D ;D Well, enough to get some crits (watch the Sandbox if you're interested) and do some serious head scratching before I send it in for DL's publisher to look at. It stands at 5, 993 words including the title. I had to leave a lot of detail out, really good detail too; but such is the writing game. When I turn it into the beginning of a novel I'll put it back in. (Sigh) ------------ The finished draft of "My Brothers Keeper" is in and set to publish in TC2 (The Cross and The Cosmos) online e-zine on April 1. A young artist on my school bus is trying to come up with a picture to head my story online. We'll see if that makes it in time. God is good !!! ;D ;D ;D I'm amazed, Glory to His name. Just checking in to see how peoples' projects were going. My current story is at about 43000 words, about 3/4ths finished. I'm critiquing a friend's novel and she's critiquing one of mine. We're being both brutal and hilariously mocking. I read this article the other day, and it's made me think about how I write. It talks about how writing should be like free-falling. You just do it, and you feel where you should go next, rather than thinking about it too much. killzoneauthors.blogspot.com/2012/04/free-fall.htmlIt helped me get past a dull spot and get on with my own free-falling. :-)

I'm starting to feel like a real author Deadlines, wow! Last year at this time I didn't have any possibilities in sight, now there are several. Kessie; RE; getting a novella published. Depending on the genre' check out Wolfsinger publications (strong female leads). They're the one DL is doing the anthology for. Or Digital Dragon (serializations of family friendly Xtian spec fic) My final edit of "Island out of Time" (for DLs anthology) is under way. So far I've been able to add essential content while shrinking wordcount to stay under 6000. Haven't been using the count tracker so I don't know where I'm at in that; I've been more concerned with plot and RUE style. Deadline: End of MayI just finished the final expansion of my companion story to "My Brothers Keeper" (The Cross and The Cosmos) and am going to the Sandbox for crits with it. Glyn encouraged me to submit related stories and follow on stories so I'm going to have at it. The title of this new one is "A Poor Kid From the Slums". It chronicles the backstory of Jerimoth's Terran human partner. Deadline: my own end of April to get it to Glyn. The follow on to MBK and PKFS is the story where Jerimoth and Thomas get together and form a divinely appointed partnership. That one is one of the first stories I tried to write in this story universe and needs a lot of work yet. I'm thinking about sending a novel to Digital Dragon as a possible serialization after I get the two deadlines out of the way. It may be too edgy for DD since I wrote this novelization for the ABA not the CBA audience. It was one of my first heavy duty Asymmetric Evangelism efforts. We'll have to see on that one. DD has a monthly publication schedule so the pace would be higher. That's it for me for now Write on Beloved Siblings Bear His flame, Be the Light! For Souls! SGD dave

Wow Dave, that's awesome! I'll get myself over to the Sandbox and give you some crits. I like critting short stories. They don't take days, like the novel I've been critting.
