It's great that she gets to go.

Thanks for the update, tris. I pray your daughter's experience on the trip is just amazing.
I know what you mean about leaning on the Lord's sufficiency and how hard that can be. I admire Paul's ability to show contentment in times of both need and plenty.
Hang in there.

Prayers away, Tris. We're right there with you. My other half was a space shuttle worker; he's been laid off since the Atlantis landing in July. And my job at the newspaper was eliminated late last year. Which I took as the Lord kicking my tukes to freelance full-time. Hang in there. A client said to me this week what you've already alluded to: the Lord does indeed provide.

Thanks for all your prayers. Just to update you on what 8 months of unemployment looks like from the Lord's side: time to plan a wedding without the stress of work, time off to attend son's wedding without worrying about whether I got all the "important" stories covered, time to take a 30th anniversary 7 day cruise to Alaska that some friends lovingly donated to us (and which I DEFINITELY couldn't have taken while working at the paper), time to clean out and rearrange the house to adjust to being an empty nester, time to go with our daughter to her 2-day new student orientation six hours away, time to celebrate my father-in-law's 85th birthday... and help him publish the book he's always wanted to publish, time to travel with my husband to his 6 month appointment at the cancer hospital in Illinois... the list goes on.
Now for the good news from my side of things (grin): After substitute teaching at our local high school, the Lord opened the door for a full time job this fall. I am now on the same schedule as my husband, with the same time off, salary and benefits. What it means beyond the financial freedom is help for our children still in college and the ability to take time off to help my husband in his fight against cancer.
So, thank you, Anomalians for praying and I will continue to pray (and lurk here) for all of you as the Lord works in your lives to fulfill His purposes.

Excellent news, tris! Thank you for the update. I'm glad you were able to invest that time out of work in your family. Sounds like time well spent to me.
