Becky, I dropped by and left a comment. Long version short, I like the idea of hosting a few panels/etc. at an already established convention.

Thanks for the feedback, Tris, and sorry for the delay in acknowledging it. Hopefully my efforts to make contact with the cons we aim for at first will be fruitful. It will be a learning experience, for certain.

So, any progress yet? I probably won't get to make it to whichever con but I love the idea. Is there also going to be a related website with the participating authors? Special discounts on books at the con? Don't know anything yet and want us to keep praying about it?

Thanks for checking in, Yoda--and sorry I've been scarce around here. As for progress, I am waiting now on information back from a couple of possible events for their cost to have a vendor booth, which will determine what we will really be able to do.
I do hope to get a web presence beyond the blog up and running, and then member authors and publishers could all be represented, and hopefully a schedule of events would grow there as well.
I've also been looking into Point of Sale systems for the sake of managing books authors would want to sell at various events. It would be very important to me to have a good way to keep careful track of sales and the like. It's my hope that authors would run specials at the events, but I think it will probably be up to the individuals.
If you are willing to pray, prayer support that I will be able to wrangle to details and get the ball really rolling in a way that will be organized from the start, that would be great. As soon as I have some concrete info from the events, then I hope to start putting out the formal calls for members, along with offering specifics of how people can be involved.
Thanks for checking in on things!

OK, will pray.
Oh, for a kiosk system, look into Square for the iPhone/iPad it's a cash register app that can take credit card payments. (I'm looking into it for my Dad's small business. I haven't used it yet, but it sounds like to might work good for small sales venues.)
