Hi!
I will agree that it's hard to be with a mainstream publisher when you look at all the other sorts of books they publish. On FB, I've seen you promote other books from your publisher and even downloaded one or two, and was rather turned off by the stuff I read. I'm not crazy about their stuff.
But that said, I want to point to Hugh Howey - self-pub'r who just got a movie contract and had his books take off like a rocket. He wrote 7 novels. SEVEN, and could barely get off the ground. Then he wrote a little old short story called "Wool" for the fun of it. 12000 words, and had readers clamor at him to write more. He made it into a 5 part series, and all this started summer of 2011. Now his work is flying of the shelves.
Stay strong, keep writing. Your stories need to be told and God will bless them!

So sorry Pauline that you purchased books you did not care for b/c I promoted them. It is part of the expectations with our publisher. Most of the time I just say "So and So has a new book out" and a link. Only if I say I loved it, etc do I actually like the book. The only indie books I've loved is the Guardian series by Gillian Joy. It's not Christian but I enjoyed her story world and for the most part it is clean. Reminded me of Kristen Cashore's Graceling, which I loved but did not like her anti-marriage theme. The only other Christian at my publisher is Jenna Kay and her book is very raunchy in her attempt to attract those teens and start changing their thought process. But her book is not selling well and I can't really promote it among Christians b/c of the things referenced there. Once I have funds of my own for printing, editing etc, I will probably go out on my own, if I've not found an agent and publisher I really want to work with by then. Thanks for the encouragement.
