Hi everyone!
My name is Rachel (you can just shout "hey you" and I'll probably respond though) and I was introduced to this board by Kessie. She and I have been doing some back and forth editing of each other's novels and she suggested I come here.
So. Here I am. XD
I've been writing stories since I was old enough to make letters but it was only (fairly) recently that I took a real interest in trying to make something GOOD.
I'm currently working on a scifi/fantasy/war novel series called The Zyearth Chronicles. I created the first character from that series, Izzy, waaay back in 2002, and I've been developing the world ever since.
Kessie introduced me to the wonders of National Novel Writing Month, and suddenly I saw my opportunity to rewrite my novels and hopefully make them good enough for publication.
So I joined NaNoWriMo November of 2010.
That year my uncle passed away, so with all the hardship, I fell 7000 words short of my goal.
However, the following summer, I finished the novel and it is now in the editing stages.
In addition to editing, I also have the second novel half way finished (from Camp NaNoWiMo last year) and I'm starting on the third novel. Right now I'm bouncing back and forth between novels to keep myself interested in both.
My series is ridiculously long, and I'm the first to admit it. Currently I have 27 novels and six short story collections planned. Each one of these novels is carefully outlined, summarized, or partially written.
In case you were wondering, my avatar represents one of my characters, Leah. My characters are all from another planet of anthropomorphic animals called Faunos. If you wanna know more, ask me. I don't wanna bore you with all the stupid details. XD
As for my non writing life, I teach English composition at California Baptist University in Riverside, and I'm also a private tutor and instructor at Oxford Riverside Academy. I love teaching, and I feel that it helps me expand my writing abilities as well. My dream is to someday teach a creative writing class. I even have a syllabus all planned out for if/when I do someday. XD
Well, that's me. For those who are TL;DR, just know that I'm an average girl who writes very non-average novels. =)
