Hard to believe it has been two weeks since the High Park Fire started. Most of you have probably heard about it on the news and all that but here we can see when its a good day or a bad day for fighting it. Before I ever heard about on the news I saw it. When I went outside I was confused, the ground was orange like a sunset and the shadows blue. I looked at the sky and just saw the sun and some clouds. Later when I turned around though I saw it, a big orange smoke cloud rising off the mountains.
I am not at all close to the fire gladly, (and when it comes to flames all I saw was a orange glow in the mountains at night) however for the first week the smoke covered the sky and then settled down at night. The air smelled like smoke (as did your clothing) and it looked often like a really foggy day but after the first week it stopped and you could see the smoke only in the distance. Now this last Friday and today it got just as bad as it had been that first day. The earth is orange, the shadows blue, the sky clouded out with smoke of various hews (and it really smells outside).
Last weekend our church actually did a special sermon on the fire called "Responding to the Wildfire" apparently some members of our church (not that I know them) lost there houses/were evacuated. The sermon was pretty unique, they referenced the falling of the tower as a disaster in Jesus's time (which he gave a sermon on) and a few other references including some Job. They also made a big thank-you video for the firefighters fighting it.
Well just thought I would say something on this, I will be praying that more homes can be saved and that it won't reach the Boy Scout camp (which is evacuated).
