Hurray, that link works! I will have to buy it soon. I love superheroes but I have to admit that I've never read comics (and have no interest in doing so) and I've never picked up a superhero novel, either. I've only watched superhero movies and TV shows. So much of the rich history of the genre is lost on me. That is why this book would be a good intro! I haven't decided on the origin of the superpowers in my story, yet. I suppose it's possible it could be genetic experiments or accidents of some kind (in this case, it would have been inherited from the main characters' parents, who would have been the subjects/victims of the experiments once upon a time). The story takes place in an early period of the supers' existence; the government is only just finding out about them and investigating their powers, and they keep their abilities a deep secret within the family, for fear of being locked up as lab rats or imprisoned out of fear that they will be dangerous to society.

Bethany, Green Ronin publishing produces the Mutants and Masterminds RPG and the DC Adventures RPG (for the Superman and Batman fans). The reason I point this out is, they have been releasing PDFs called Power Profiles and they concentrate on specific power types.
Hope this is helpful.
