Grats on the good reviews! It's a big book and takes a while for folks to churn through it. I'm sure by the time the whole trilogy is finished, you'll have a nice stable review base.
I'm worried, though. Once I get published, Amazon may not let me review books anymore. Think they'd catch on if I used a different name and email?

I'm worried, though. Once I get published, Amazon may not let me review books anymore. Think they'd catch on if I used a different name and email? When Amazon did that big pull of author reviews, it didn't effect any of my books. All the Splashdown and MLP folks' reviews on my books stayed intact. So I'm not convinced that being published is actually an immediate cut off from reviewing. Now, if you become a best seller... And congrats on the good words, DtW!

Thanks. I don't know what will come of the Amazon author reviews, though I did notice that it didn't let my fellow Crimson Moon Press author (and wife) post a review for my book (it made it to Goodreads and Speculative Faith), and deleted my review for hers (likewise still on Goodreads and Speculative Faith). I just figured that was because we both listed the same press, but I didn't know until recently about the author review ban. Boo!

Congratulations, Robert! Such a nice vindication of all of one's efforts, isn't it?
As for Amazon, my understanding is that their policy only stops you from reviewing other books in your same genre (i.e., what they view as competing products).

Thank you! And it is, actually. In lieu of massive royalty checks, I will always take a few heartfelt positive reviews!

I snagged it! YAY! After reading the reviews I felt very conflicted because I'm a complete miser when it comes to spending money on books, but I REALLY wanted to read it! Congratulations on the good reviews. I hope to delve into it soon.

LOL... thanks, Bethany. I have become a miser by necessity, I'm afraid, so I can sympathize (though once upon a time I snagged anything that looked interesting). I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Does anyone here have any experience scripting graphic novels or adapting novels to some other form? There is a very good possibility that there will be a graphic novel adaptation of Bid the Gods Arise, and I am quickly realizing how out of my league I am in terms of doing this properly.

I don't know. Maybe read some graphic novels alongside their original novels and see how they did it? The Last Unicorn and Artemis Fowl have some pretty good adapts.

Not a bad idea! I was actually talking more about scripting them, but that would at least give me an idea of how to abridge.

Wahoo! Looks as though a BTGA graphic novel is very likely to happen! Ridiculously excited!
