My current job is moving, and that will double my commute. I'm looking at new ones, and found a place that will half my current commute that is looking for a programmer. It's a great place to work (2 relatives work there). I am applying! Prayer appreciated!

I hope you get the job.
What kind of programming do you do? Web databases?

I've been doing web db and backends for about 5 years now (Ruby on Rails and now PHP). Before that, I did desktop programming in Delphi. Almost always db related.

I submitted the application last night. I got a call minutes ago from the company. They want to do a phone screening Friday morning! I'm excited and praying.

Thanks everyone. The phone screening went very smoothly. There were a few specific tech questions that I had to say "I am not familiar with that" but I was also able to say, "however, while I have not worked with PL/SQL or Oracle APEX, I have worked with systems designed to do similar functions." (And now that I have looked it up, I see that PL/SQL is the Oracle version of the Firebird internal language).
The recruiter told me that she sees no reason I do not qualify for the next round. AND the programming team is feeling the pinch of being down a person!
This is an awesome opportunity and I have been praising the Father since I saw it listed!

Talked to my boss today about working from home a few days a week after the move. He isn't really in favor of it. He is going to a trade show for a week, and said he will consider it. I am still praying that the position in the next town takes me. I hope to hear from their HR tomorrow.
Honestly, after the conversation with my boss, I felt unsecure. Not that he will fire me, but I didn't feel like the loyalty I have shown him is returned.

My manager told me today that I can work from home two days a week once we make the move. I have to be in the office on Monday and Friday, but the other days are up to me. Also, they want 10 hours days in the office.
I am still looking. The place I was so excited about put a hiring freeze in place right after my screening. But I met with some recruiters today and found out there are some possibilities for me. One of the recruiters became very pleased to see that I am an associate pastor and seminary grad. He understood why I couldn't move from where I am.
Thank you for your prayers.

I want to squee! The first place called today to set up a phone interview! Tomorrow at 10, I will disappear from work for about an hour. Either the hiring freeze was lifted or this department got an exemption (they are hurting badly). So excited! Prayers continuing and thank you for them!

Phone interview went fine. They said HR should call me next week to let me know if I get an on sight interview. I am very hopeful and still praying.
