Hello — New guy here, not really sure if this is the place to be. I've been a longtime fan of science fiction, primarily due to my father's encouragement, a dictionary and his paperback library containing a certain series of books he enjoyed. I grew up reading the likes of Robert Heinlein, Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov and Kenneth Robeson, and in the mid-70s started writing my own tales while in eighth grade. Over the years, I've written stories based in science fiction and even a little fantasy, but over the past two decades the main characters in most of my stories have been anthropomorphic in nature. I hesitate to admit this, since there seems to be rather dark connotations with anthro (or furry) stories, but I've always prided myself on keeping all my stories relatively clean. Although I've been a Christian for many years, none of my tales ever had any faith-based messages. I've written a popular anthro space opera series that I've offered for free to the public on my personal website(s) and I have had a decent following of readers for many years. I have even sold a generous amount of self-published books and related ebooks.
However... Every time I finish a series or a novel, I keep thinking to myself that I should make a strong attempt at writing a Christian-based story, but due to my interests and reading influences, I'm afraid that anything I create would be science fiction in theme (anthro or not). Until I had a recent conversation with a friend of mine who is a published Christian YA author, I'd been unaware that Christian Science Fiction and Fantasy existed at all. It was she who pointed me toward Marcher Lord Press, and now I'm looking around at available tales to read to see if there's anything to interest me. Although I've written anthropomorphic science fiction for twenty years, this doesn't mean that's all I read or will ever write. I am an author who happens to use "furry" characters to tell his stories, but I do not consider myself a furry.
I'm not big in the fantasy realm, even though I actively participated in a certain fantasy comic's fandom for years when I was younger. My interests lean more toward science fiction adventure, though rarely toward sci-fi military or over-the-top stories where the "science" is so unrealistic that it's hard to swallow. I'm not stuck in one particular area, but I do tend to gravitate toward tales that "could" be true if science and technology were to naturally develop in those directions. Yes, I know that anthro stories take a certain amount of disbelief to read in of themselves, but I've long enjoyed the freedom writing of different species as opposed to race. Even those lines can be blurred, but that's part of my background.
At present, I’m still writing in one of the "universes" I created and have two novel-length tales to finish before I can start anything new, but if I can find some good examples of Christian science fiction that appeal to me, this might be the direction my creativity turns to with my next projects.
Thanks for letting me stop in, even if I happened to stumble into the wrong place for this.
