I am intrigued with "folk Histories". Convinced I am that they often contain a more accurate record of history than the Scholarly works of historiography that pass for the Official record of what happened.

Well right after the Lord saved me the Devil jumped on me about the Genesis account of creation. As an Athiestic Marxist I had been a dyed in the wool materialistic evolutionist as far as cosmology went. I even took graduate level courses in Evolutionary theory as an undergraduate (my first foray into writing wildly speculative fiction was the papers I did for those courses).

Well the Lord delivered me from the shackles of evolutionary thinking and convinced me from the scriptures, by Philosophical analysis and from the evolutionary science that I had learned that Young Earth creation of Genesis is in fact what happened. (I anyone is interestested I will post or send my reasoning on this. email me)

The Universe I have created for my Sf writing starts with 7 day special creation, a somewhat novel concept of a universal gravity well/dimensionality, and an parallel historiography of the Biblical account (Genesis to Revelation) that gathers up a lot of the folk histories into the main narrative.

My projected story arc is made up of at least eight books. I've provisionally titled it as either "The Enoch Chronicles" after Enoch who was translated or "Guardians; The Bulwark Across the Stars".

My time line is 7530 earth years long with Jesus birth being the centerpoint of the time line. There are three draconic races and several other sentient races in the 4-Dimensional part of the universe where organic life resides. Humans are the race of destiny who are to inherit the universe as God's created and chosen bride. (sound familiar)

The first 5700 years look back at our known history reinterpreted in my parallel historiography of the human race. The last 1830 years are a future view of the space faring human race and the emipires they create before the end. The Guardianship and their call and continual conflict with the Abyss is the thread that ties them all together.

The conflict is centered around the conflict between the forces of the Abyss (Hell) and the forces of Ya's house (heaven and the angels). But both the Angels, the Holy Spirit and the Darkest Ones are prohibited from exerting physical power directly in the 4-D worlds. They only work through Sentients who give their faculties or their wills to them. The Darkest Ones do enslave sentients when possible, the Angels and the Holy Spirit only work through willing hosts. (parasites vs. paracletes)

(based on my own encounters with angels and demons this is how it works in the real world. You run into some pretty weird stuff out on the streets)

The Guardians are a part of the descendents of Enoch who are allied to the refugees from Mars (Red Dragonleas, praying dragons who are not a fallen race who fear and serve God). The Guardians , a Space Faring guild, are called of God to stand up against the schemes and means of the Darkest Ones.

The Darkest Ones are trying to flood the 4-D universe and possess all the sentient races in it to get revenge on God for throwing them out of heaven.

I have a roughed out outline of the story arc if anyone would like to see it.

In the re-imagining of my novel, I worked hard to create a wholly fictitious universe that worked by its own rules, was old enough to have an interesting history (but not set in our far future), but was also consistent with my creationist stance. That was work, let me tell you....

As a former engineer with a wife who is a physics teacher I have spent some serious time and thought on the Physics of my new universe.

The basic concept is that God's house is a place of infinite Transcendent Dimensionality. I use transcendent dimensions in the Mathematical sense of the known trascendent dimensions inhabited by the mathematical transcendent functions from Trigonometry.

Sine, Cosine, Tangent, etc are transcendental functions which exist in space "mutually perpendicular" to the 4 dimensions of space that we normally deal with (Length, Width, Height, Time). This whole dimensional thing is explored by higher mathematics and actually does exist beyond the realms of our senses. Some other examples are Gravity wells of stars and irrational numbers (n* (sqrt(-1))). Electronics and spacial mechanics use them a lot.

So to get back to the Guardianship Universe. God's house is the Place of infinite dimensionality explains a lot about God's omnipotnece, Omnicience and relative velocity in our 4-dimensional space (4-D). God's House is the Highest heaven and it surrounds all of known creation. (Thinking in 4-D terms it surrounds us like a sphere in which we in our visible universe [4-D space] are in the center).

If we collapse multidimensional space into a 2-dimensional model (like they do with the gravity wells of Stars for illustration) It would look like a very elongated funnel, with hyperbolic curves for sides, stretching from God's house and curving down and compressing in until it terminates on a point mass at the opposite end. Shaped like those diagrams they use in National Geographic, Physics books and Astronomy magazines to illustrate what the gravity wells of stars "look like". (think those curved funnel things that you can roll quarters down at Wallmart where the money goes around faster and faster the closer it gets to the hole in the centre. Civic groups put them out to collect money here in New England)

The steepness of the walls of this gravity well shows the intensity of the pull of the gravity from the mass at the bottom that creates the gravity well. ie. a black hole once you pass the event horizon has an almost vertical gravity well thus nothing escapes.

The point mass at the bottom of the universal gravity well is the Abyss. It is a one dimensional singularity with infinite density and infinite mass. It drives the gravity engine of the created universe. The fabric of the universe is the Life of God (He Jesus is the life which became the light of men), which is Light, which is the stuff from which everything in the universe is "made".

"Made" here is a dynamic tension. All physical objects are like standing waves in whitewater rapids. They only exist as stationary ripples in a flowing stream. Stop the flow and they cease to exist. (In Him we live and move and have our being, & He upholds us [moment by moment] by the word of His power)

The transcendent (spiritual) gravitametric forces generated by the Abyss draw the Life out of God's person (Jesus the outshining/outflowing of God's glory) down through all the dimensionality of our created universe to ultimately vanish into the nothingness of the Abyss after being tortured and polluted by it's pass through the corrupted 4-D space and the debased 3-D and 2-D space below it (slain from before the foundation of the Earth).

This is the dynamic of the externalities of the Atonement, Done once at the beginning of time yet eternally ongoing until the final restoration of all things. Jesus death played out second by second within the very fabric of the universe, available to all who will come to Him. A continual fully effectual sacrifice of his purity flooding over out sin and carrying it away to the place of forgetting (the Abyss; sending our sins ahead to judgment) to give and sustain eternal life in us who grasp Him by faith.

(Hey I can't help it. I started life as a Philosophy major doing metaphysics and since I met Jesus it turns out I am somewhat of a mystic. Blame it on falling on my head in gym class too many times. ;D ;D)

What a facinating conceptyou have there. The only missing thing to make your conceptual vision is a way for energy to return from the abyss back to God. Then you would have a coherent closed system that would make sense in a physics sense.

If the abyss is where sin goes after passing through Jesus, and if it is the one dimensional space/time at the end of the funnel, why would anything return from the abyss? My only question would be, "what are people doing in that space time funnel concept? How do we avoid getting sucked into the abyss? What does it look like when we get saved?"

It may be, then, that the analogy only works so far. I mean, DOES anything return from the abyss? And are people really sucked down to the abyss? I assume that people are somewhere in the "funnel." Or are they on the brink of the "event horizon?" How is it that people who are saved avoid getting sucked in?

Don't get me wrong, I love the analogy. I'm just trying to understand how it works.

OK sports fans, here is the straight dope right from the horses mouth (eh? what mixed metaphors?)

The Abyss is the sea of Gods forgetfulnesses. It is a spiritual black hole. Nothing gets out once it goes in, at least that was the original design. As with most things in this sin cursed universe sin changed
that and the Immaterial Darkest Ones did manage to escape back into 4-D space.

The relation between The Abyss, God's house and the created universe is the meta statement of creation. It is not subject to the rules that exist within the created universe. It defines the rules or in this case it runs the machinery of creation.

There is no conservation of matter and energy relative to the Abyss. Since God is infinite He cannot be diminished or exhausted. The Abyss is everlasting infinite hunger, it cannot ever be filled or sated. After devouring all of the life and energy from all of time it will be just as empty and hungry as it was at the first moment of creation.

(when God arises and changes the current heavens like a man removes a dirty coat and folds it up and lets it be sucked out the open door of an airplane; he will cut off the matrix of the universe from it's source of life at the portals of God's house and the Abyss will suck in the remaining shreds of it like a man sucks in a plateful of spaghetti. ;D)

Once God arises and makes all things new it will be cast off, separate from the recreated universe, and set on fire containing all the things that offend and are vile from the former creation. ie. The Lake of Fire.

Anything in material 4-D space is stuck there unless there is a phenomenal relativistic energy event (see my next post Physics II). Nothing with mass can enter the Abyss and stay there. It is a place of spiritual existence only.

Relative to Christians (those with faith) and willful Sinners (those who take pleasure in unrighteousness and therefore reject the truth in unbelief [2 thes 2:10-12]):

As long as a man is living he is supported by the fabric of the 4-D universe (see the condition of man painted by Jonathan Edwards in his classic sermon "Sinners in the hands of an Angry God"). Upon death our souls are shorn of flesh and become purely spiritual beings. If we die without saving faith then the moral weight of our sins are still upon us since sin is a thing of the spirit. That accumulated moral weight does in fact thrust us down into the Abyss with all the other moral garbage from this universe. A soul in that condition cannot do anything but fall by the law of spiritual gravity.

This fact has applications in life as well but it depends on a persons spiritual perceptions. A very perceptive person will either soar into God's arms in redemption or plunge into the depths of vile sin to drug away the pain of the spiritual sight not obeyed. Only totally unawakened dullards are able to live in this dream of flesh and sense without alarm. (By the way this part is not fiction, it is my own experience and conviction about the nature of the universe we actually do live in. I develop it more in "Cadet to the Rescue" which is under heavy revision due to Jeff's tips of the weeks.)

When the Lord saves a person He imparts His own spirit to them (If any man does not have the Spirit of Christ he is not one of Christ's own [Rom. 8:9]). When a man dies as a disciple of Christ with saving faith, 1) our sins have already been sent ahead to judgment and purged so we don't bear them. Thus they can't drag us down. 2) Because we are mastered by the Holy Ghost He becomes wings to our soul and bears us (with angelic escort and help) up to the very bosom of God our Savior.

The metaphysical gravity well only acts on purely spiritual beings. When a Darkest One is infesting a sentient and the Sentient dies or is Exorcised the Darkest One is unceremoniously dumped back into the Abyss. I haven't worked out exactly how the drifting ghostly Darkest Ones who haven't yet found sentients to infest stay in 4-D space but I think it will have something to do with the substance of hatred and rage that allows them to punch holes into the ceiling of Hell and invade 4-D space.

I've got to post the first chapter "Escape from the Abyss" wherein they are cast into the Abyss from God's House and then create the first hellhole. (It'll be over in the chapter posting space)

Thus Jesus' atoning death is woven into the warp and weft of the universe. His life and passion were the physical embodiment of the metaphysical facts of the structure of the universe and showed the depth of degradation, shame and agony that God feels continually as he supports the perverted life that fills our universe since Adam's adultery with Lucifer.

As an aside; this is the reason why I have a real problem with the "casual sinning religion" model that the modern perversion of Calvinism all too often promotes. The central issue of Christian experience according to the scriptures is a radical change of life from polluted and sinful to pure and holy (Rom 6).

Back to Physics, Faster than Light travel is possible in the Guardianship Universe via three different paths:

1) The method that the Guardianship normally uses is up-dimensional "surfing". This is similar to climbing up onto a plane in a planing hull speedboat. When a 4-dimensional starship reaches the speed of light (c) the relative mass goes to infinity. Since nothing in the 4-D universe can exist with infinite mass this triggers a massive energy release.

There is a gravitometric "hull shape" of a starship under impulse drive. It is formed by the gravitometric micro nodes that generate the ships artificial gravity and that run the vortex generators in the ship's power couples. If the "gravitometric shape" of the starship is correct (analogous to the classic planing hull shape for watercraft) then the energy release forces the ship up into the next level of transcendent space. Since the next level up has 8 dimensions instead of 4 then the relative speed of light is higher for that dimensionality and the ship can continue accelerating. As the starship reaches the speed of light in 8 dimensional space the same thing happens and it is forced up to the next transcendent level where there are 16 dimensions; etc. etc. etc.

(Existing in any dimensional level is like being in a stable orbit above a planet or a star. Your velocity relative to that star keeps you at the same orbital radius. Surfing, or climbing up the transcendent levels "raises our orbit". Objects with mass naturally settle to the lowest level of transcendence that will support their relative velocity. 4-D space, since it is where God is playing out the drama of redemption is the default level for all things with mass.)

(Those who don't like Algebra can skip the next paragraph)

The relative velocity (Rv) is calculated thusly: Rv=1.3^N (Rv is always stated as a multiple of c, the speed of light in 4-D space; N=the number of transcendent levels above 4-D space). [Thus at the first level of transcendence (4-D)+1 or 1D Rv= 1.3c. At 4D up-dimension Rv=2.9c].

An practical example of this is the transit from the planet Enoch to Earth. Enoch's star is located in the gap between the Perseus Arm of the Galaxy and the Cygnus (outer) Arm of the galaxy. Earth is located in the Orion Arm of the galaxy just inside of the Perseus arm. (http://www.atlasoftheuniverse.com/milkyway.html)

This is a 10,000 light year journey. At the 48th level of transcendence (48D) it takes 12.3 days of ship time at 48D to make the trip, not counting the time to climb up-dimension to 48D and the time to decelerate back down to 4-D space. I calculated it out. (Anyone of a technical mindset is welcome to check my math on that one.)

OK you say, you're not really going to put all this in the stories are you?

No I'm not. I'm an Engineering Mystic or a Mystic Engineer; not a total blithering idiot. I programmed it into a spreadsheet so I could keep things consistent. Like for instance how long would it take a Guardianship Armed Scout (the fastest of the Guardian's spaceships) to get from Enoch to Dirax III? Dirax III is 90,000 light years away at the other edge of the Galactic disk. At what level of transcendence would they have to cruise. (At the 48th level it would take them 112 days of ship time.)

I'm assuming some readers may have some knowledge or astronomy and astro-physics. At least they may have access to the NASA website (or Jerry Pournell's websites) so I want things to be consistent. (Yeah I'm quirky, OK, and I started out in Webber's Honorverse over at Baen so ...).

Enough of this back to the FTL stuff.

2) Abyssian ships never use the transcendent levels because it brings them closer to God's house and up into the regions where Heavens Light is more intense (inverse square law). Since Abyssian ships are crewed by enslaved Infested Sentients, venturing up into transcendent space could exorcise the Darkest Ones out of their enslaved hosts which would turn the crew back to Ya and the Guardianship.

Therefore when Abyssian ships have to travel faster than light they use two methods both of which involve retreating further into the obscuring darkness. The first method doesn't really require a ship at all. It is an Abyss transit. The Darkest Ones in the Abyss discovered a way to create stable wormholes linking the Abyss to 4-D space. These are called Hellholes. A hell hole is about like the substance of a Darkest One "a hungry sucking void of darkness sucking down into an unknowable dimension." The stuff of the Abyss is anti-existance.

An Abyss transit is instantaneous.

An Abyss transit as it is used by the Darkest Ones without a starship involves dragging or motivating infested sentients to jump into a hellhole on the surface of a planet (hellholes can terminate anywhere in 4-D space) once they drop into the Abyss the Darkest Ones steer the sentient into another hellhole that terminates on another planetary surface. The Abyss cannot sustain any Mass so the ejection back up the second hellhole is quite violent requiring flight capability at the destination planet. It is the natural way to deploy White Dragon shock troops for planetary invasions.

An Abyss transit using starships is more flexible. Hellholes are propagated most easily to terminate in 4-D space at the heilopause of a star. The solar wind of a star balances the cosmic drift of life at the heilopause. This creates a weak spot in the fabric of space that is more easily punctured by the palpable hatred that forms hellholes. In the Abyssian starship scenario the Darkest Ones load up the starships with the infested sentient troops and fly the ship out to the heilopause of the star. They drive the Starship into the Hellhole (wormhole ending in the Abyss). In the Abyss they guide it back out of another hellhole to the heilopause of the target star. Then they navigate to the planet normally for the invasion.


3) A third method of FTL travel is the one ultimately discovered (with Abyssian inspiration) and used by secular space faring races who don't want to enter the convicting effects of climbing up into the transcendent regions where Heavens Light is clearer. Sometimes the Darkest Ones use this method as well to save their enslaved sentients from the maddening effects of too many Abyss transits.

By reversing the polarity of the Gravitametric micro generators, that create artificial gravity and that create the power vortices in both Abyssian and Guardianship starships, they change the "gravitametric hull shape" of the ship. When they hit the speed of light the relativistic energy surge that happens at light speed drives the ship down dimension into 3-D or 2-D space. (sort of the opposite of surfing, or maybe surfing on the wrong side of the surface of the water) This is actually a deceleration in the matrix of dimensionality that makes up the Universe. Because one or two dimensions are removed all of the relative distances are vastly compressed. In 3-D space where time is the missing dimension, vast distances can be navigated in virtually no elapsed 4-D time. The challenge is finding how to transition back into 4-D space where you want to be. 2-D space is the fastest way to go (except for an actual Abyss transit) but it is the hardest to navigate within.

I guess this method is analogous to the "hyperspace" that most SiFi writers use for FTL. Actually since my Universe is supposed to gather up many threads this is no accident. "Traditional Hyperspace" is a mathematically degenerate case of my Guardianship Universe. It is analogous to the way that F=ma is the degenerate non relativistic case of Newton's actual First Law, the force-mass-impulse equation F=dp/dt. (OBTW Newton's original formulation works in relativistic space up to c the speed of light while F=ma only works for speeds of less than 0.3c)

One more thing.

There is one more thing that I'd like to mention as a feature of my Guardianship Universe before I leave this post. This relates to the phenomenon of the increase in the relativistic speed of light as one ascends up through the levels of transcendent space. If you were able to ascend up to God's house where there are an infinite number of dimensions (not possible except for redeemed souls after death or Angels) the speed of light at that place becomes infinite.

Since God is Light this explains why He is able to be Ubiquitous within the created universe. He is present everywhere and everywhen because His relative velocity to every point in the 4-D space time continuum is infinite (whatever that means) so He is everywhere there is to be at every time that ever was or ever will be. (I Am that I Am; aka JHVH)

Another corollary of this is that telepathic communication is instantaneous across any distance since the Telepathic Aether is nothing more nor less than the substance of the mind of God. This is something else that we as Christians actually do experience in our world. Think of the instantaneous communication with God that you enjoy when you pray, or the way He gives us prayer burdens for people on the opposite side of the Globe at the exact instant that our friends are facing danger.

This is one of the practical things that I intend to exploit in my stories. Humans and infested sentients are the only reclusive mind blind ones in the Guardianship Universe. All the non-fallen races still retain the telepathic language that we all shared in the first creation. That is the universal language of heaven. The language of Angels and of God himself.

The only limiting factor to telepathic communication is that the sinful chaos of 1) the Abyss and the escaped Darkest Ones creates the equivalent of static in the telepathic aether (ie pain in the mind and heart of God) and 2) the presence of a preponderance of willfully sinful men also creates this static, sort of like the light pollution from a city when you want to look at the stars.

Well that's all I have the imagination for tonight. Next time I think I'll get into the "Critters" that inhabit this Universe of ours (well I think they could be out there; really); Er, well, the main actors of the Guardianship Universe and their worlds.

I don't know that I have any background that's worth anything in any of this, but I am eating it up! Then again, I did read much of the Star Trek Next Generation Technical Manual. I'm sure it's a good thing that this works relative to what's been accepted by whatever scientists study this stuff, but for the purposes of enjoying the story, it could be entirely bogus as long as its internally consistent. So, whether it's more or less true this stuff is mad cool IMHO. I'd like to pre-order a copy of the first book please.

I'm flattered. Thank you for the kind words. My pastor was particularly interested in my Dragonid race of Healers who have the gift of healing from Ya. He was also interested in the whole concept of Abyss transits as the ultimate test of people's character.

Please help me Pray that I manage to get the first book and the otheres written. Of course this is my first foray into Authoring so I make no warranties. Probably Jeff's POD is a reasonable first venue for my initial work given that it is aimed at Christians who are Sf devotees.

But what I really want to be able to do is write something good enough to get published by a secular Sf publisher to get the Word out into the secular Sf readership. So if you think of me please help me pray to that end.

The primary Critter in the Guardianship Universe is Man. I'm following the traditional "man is the center of God's redemptive work for the whole universe" model.

Humankind is the race of prophesy is the one created to be the bride of Christ. The other sentient races are the bridesmaids and companions of the bride. (This is possibly under revision, see my posting of "What Color Is your Dragon?" over in Anomolous readings.)

I have three Dragonid races:

1) the main companion race for Man and the technological mainstay of the Guardianship are the Martian Dragonleas race. These are medium sized red dragonids who are the most intelligent of all the dragonids in the galaxy. Their growth tops out at 450-500 Kg at about 600 years of age with a body length of two meters excluding tail and neck.

They invented space flight (with a little help from the Darkest Ones), sort of like the way the Natzi's invented modern aerospace technology. With the aid of their Telepathy they are firmly entrenched in all guardianship technical fleet operations see (Invasion soon to be posted).

Oh yes the Dragonleaskind are also one of the most desireable slaves for the Darkest Ones to infest because of their intelligence and their incredible fighting power. They are a warrior race with a long tradition of beserk self sacrifice. All of the Abyssian space navy vessels are commanded and mostly crewed by infested Dragonleas, many of them infested against thier will.

Dragonleas have no known natural lifespan. Unless they die in battle they expect to live until Kingdom comes.

2) The second type of Dragonids are the Blue Healers of Dirax III (aka Blueys; "The Healers of Dirax III" & "What color is your dragon"). They are smallish dragons, only one meter long including tail and neck but they are powerful elemental creatures. They are sort of the Billy Budd's of the Draconic world. They were created to be healing spirits to any and all life on Dirax III.

They were clothed in Light and never lost it. The blue skin fire is both their primary healing tool and thier immediate connection to the life of Ya which is the substance of the Universe. It is also their main weapon, instead of fire they spit blue ball lightning. They terrify the Darkest Ones because of their clothing of light. They also are guardians against Darkest Ones on their world.

The Blue Healers are another highly intelligent dragonid race who lives until Kingdom come and who communicate telepathically. Unlike the Dragonleas they have no natural voice. All communication is Telepaghic among them. Once they meed the first human colonists to Dirax III (75,000 light years from Earth) they are on a mission to heal man's self imposed mind blindness and restore the telepathic powers we were created with.

On the cure for telepathic mind blindness in humans they enjoy a limited success among those people who are truly born again and purged of the carnal mind in the baptism of the Holy ghost. (no citation, I haven't written that one yet.)

The Blueys play a pivotal, sacrificial role in the end times preservation of the Godly seed against the biggest, badest, Universe devouring..... Can't give it away. Sorry!

3) Finally the third Dragonid race, the favorite of the Darkes Ones for infestation for shock troops. They are big weighing in at four tonnes at maturity but they are stupid, with only a marginal intelligence of about 40 on the IQ scale. They are the White dragons of Dirax IV.

Their home world is frozen so they are clothed in thick white wool like draconic sheep, but they are fearful fighters when aroused and they do spit fire.

White dragons do not live until Knigdom Come. They live about 100 years before old age claims them. They are the most complex characters in the mix. They are just intelligent enough to be moral beings and sometimes do choose the truth. But their basic nature predisposes them to be tools for the Abyss. They are true battle berserks, and in the heat of the battle trance their intelligence opens up and they become almost normal.
