Oh, and although it wasn't a brace of Baluchitheriums, my husband's second-floor window was attacked by a particularly ferocious land-crab when he was deployed to Gitmo. Strong bugger--bent the screen. Thankfully he had a large Maglite to beat it off with.

Then he says leave us alone and all that, the leader laughs, has all them executed. As they leave, the author described a hidden room above the dining hall, and looking out from twisted planks was a human eye. DUN DUN DUN.
I was engaged, I could not put the book down until I knew what was going on, and the whole book was filled with twists and betrayals, some you saw some you didn't. In my opinion that was one of the greatest hooks I'd ever read.I only now got around to reading this thread. Sabre3030, you aren't going to leave us in suspense. WHAAAT was the name of the book?
