As editor for a small town weekly newspaper, I don't have a lot of spare time, but this forum looked a like a place I could eventually call home. I've published one Christian sci-fi novel and Jeff is right on target when he says the market is almost non-existent. Unfortunately, the secular marketplace keeps adding shelves for sci-fi. I think mainstream Christian publishers are missing a great opportunity. Anyway, I'm a small town girl with a yen for the stars. Married, with four brilliant children (one recently graduated with a degree in physics and the second born is working on a robotics degree. Son number three will graduate high school this year and our daughter is a freshman.) It's nice to find an oasis with like minded people and I'm looking forward to being a part of this forum.

Welcome, Tris. Glad you found us and look forward to seeing more of you around here. What is your novel about?

Hi and welcome! I'm also the mother of 4 kids, however, mine are 6, 4 and 2 (twins), so college is still way off into the future for mine However, they are brilliant, I'm surprised my house hasn't burned down yet!

Hello, Tris! Welcome to the one place where the following phrase has no meaning: "You are here". I have four creatures that call me "Father" and three that consider me poorly trained help. That's dogs and cats, of course. Again, welcome to our little corner of the internet! -- CS aka Glyn www.glynshull.com

Hey Tris! *waves* And welcome to the Anomoly. I have looked into christian fantasya nd science fiction.... and yeah... it's almost nothing there. I really would love to get my hands on some well writen fantasy and sci-fi books but I rarely wantt o by secular books because I never know what the content is going to be like...so yeah, i agree.... I think christian publishers should start doing more with that stuff.

Greetings, Tris! We're so glad you've found The Anomaly. While it's true that Christian publishers don't do much SF or fantasy or the like, over the years they have done enough to accumulate a library that will take you a while to exhaust. Take a look at The Booklist over at the main site: www.WhereTheMapEnds.com. But all of us would like to see that list expand. If I don't have your book listed there and it's available through Amazon, let me know and I'll get it listed. Again, welcome. Jeff

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I spent the last two years looking for a kindred spirit sight and it looks like I finally found it. Guess good things do come to those who wait!
Morwena, enjoy those little ones! A lively house is always fun! I wouldn't trade raising three boys for anything and our daughter keeps showing me interesting aspects to life. Kids are fun!!!!
Jeff, The novel is Advent Phoenix and is (what else!) science fiction from a Christian perspective. I never had any inspiration to write anything else. If you want to check out a sample first before you list it here (which I'd love by the way!!) I can post my website. Didn't do it yet, because as a newbie, I'm still not sure of all the posting rules. Phoenix is available through Amazon, Hastings and Barnes and Nobles.
And thanks for the heads up on the booklist. I have been going through sci fi withdrawal for several months now.

I looked your book up on Amazon and I am assuming it's the one by Carol Jo Parsons?

Yep! On the cover it just says Carol Parsons. But there's another Carol Parsons (not me!) who write nonfiction, so I guess they use the middle name to differentiate between the two of us. If you want to read an excerpt, you can visit my webpage: www.freewebs.com/adventphoenix.

Ah, gotcha. I may have to add it to my order the next time I have a little extra money and pick something off Amazon.
Hm... I clicked the link for your website and it says it could not be found. Just took me to the freewebs basic page. Perhaps the link is wrong?

uh-oh. I don't like the sound of that. I'll have to have my boys troubleshoot that. Was it the link on Amazon or another webpage?

No need to troubleshoot; I see what jax is talking about. As soon as I knew jax had a problem I looked at it and spotted what I thought would be the problem right away. I clicked and got the same page he did. Sure enough, what I saw was the problem once I typed it in properly. The problem is when you wrote down the website you put a period at the end. What you meant to write down was www.freewebs.com/adventphoenix Instead, what you wrote down was www.freewebs.com/adventphoenix. A common mistake when writing down webpages at the end of sentences on forums. The technology that allows for us to click on it didn't register the period as the end of the sentence since periods are used with webpages. So instead of going to the page you wanted pulled up, that period made the engine think that whoever clicks on it wants to go somewhere else. All because of that one little period. Sounds crazy, huh? But there it is. Hope that helps you out. And I'll check out your book sometime soon myself by purchasing it.

Thanks guys! And thanks for the info about periods at the end of website links. I like learning new things! That's one nice thing about freewebs. They have really neat templates for folks like me that are completely clueless as far as web design.
I still don't know how to upload an avatar or add those cute little sayings at the end of my posts!

Hi! I'll have to check out your book, I'm always looking for new things to read.
To get a signature (at the end of your post) or an avatar(the pictures), you need to go to the top of the page and click on "profile". It'll bring you to another page that should say "modify profile" somewhere on it. Click that and scroll down. There will be a place for an avatar--you can choose one from the list or get your own by putting an avatar's address in the address bar, and then putting its size in (most are 100x100). The space for the signatue is just below it. Once you've updated it, scroll down to the bottom and click "modify profile." Volia!
