Well, the name change has not helped with my sleeping. Nor has setting a bedtime and sticking to it.
So I googled my problem. I have like 9 out of 15 symptoms of having a major hormone imbalance. I've made a doctor's appointment. Please pray that the Dr. will have wisdom in treating me.
I got maybe and hour of sleep last night.
Pray for me and my kids. I have to take my son to school and pick him up. I have to deliver a meal. I cannot crawl back in bed.
My prayer is that when I am at my weakest, He will be strong and hold me up.
Thank you for your prayers, Missy

VBM, I'd like to make a suggestion for when you see your doctor. Have your list of symptoms written down but do not mention your concern about it being a hormonal imbalance until the end of your appointment or the follow-up appointment unless your doctor is a good diagnostician. I found too often regular md's (like in family or general practice) will latch onto some part of what you tell them; sometimes, that biases what they look at or consider while they're diagnosing you. They're only human, too.

Thanks, Good point. I'm going to my OB. My GP has been no help at all. I've been going to him for about 8 years, but lately he's gotten very into natural healing.
It's not that I don't believe in it--I do. I agree that often we are over medicating ourselves and that eating well and exercise can prevent or take care of many of our problems, but not all instances.
I've been exercising, cut out caffeine, spending time in the sun, etc. I've tried herbal sleep aids and a regular bed time. I've confessed sins, gotten up to read my Bible and been on my knees to pray.
My OB is planning on running some blood tests. I'm praying for a clear diagnosis.

Any news from the doctor about resolving the insomnia issue, VBM? I know what a challenge sleep problems can be. Still praying for you.

Well my OB started treating me for a hormonal imbalance two months ago. No Insomnia at all since. Praise Jesus.
I finished my first draft and all was fine until I started a new ms. Now I'm being plagued by migraines. I've had them before, but it's been years and they never lasted more than a day. I've had one for 3 days now, off and on. Meds take care of the pain but then I'm groggy.
Sorry to sound so whiny. There are people in the world dealing with far worse. At least I'm the one with health problems and not one of my kids.

Oh, I get migraines too, so I know what you're going through. Are you taking migraine meds, OTC pain meds (e.g. Tylenol) or prescrip pain meds?
I've found Immatrex (or the new form of it Summasomething) works well for me, within a coupls hours the pain is gone.
Tell your OB about the headaches, they may need to adjust your hormone levels.

I've been taking Excedrin and a Coke. I've always craved Coke when I have a migraine. My Dr. said a little caffeine can help. I get nausea, chills, and become sensitive to light, noise and smells. (I've avoided washing my hair this week due to the sweet smell of my shampoo.)
I go back to the Dr. next month. They want me to stay on the same dose until then.
The women's ministry director at my old church said she thinks hormones and all that come with them are the biggest part of curse women got at the fall. I really agree with that. Those hormones are the gift that keep on giving. Adam didn't get off totally free either just ask the men who live with hormonal women.

LOL, yeah my husband can attest. I've been getting migraines with "my time of the month" ever since I hit puberty, at least 20 years ago, the only time I have relief is when I'm pregnant, unfortuantly I don't think my sanity could handle being perpetually pregnant. Have you tried a hot (or cold) compress? Sometimes I can get to sleep using a hot compress. I took an old (hole free) sock and filled it with uncooked rice. (Do I need to say tie a knot in the open end? I will anyway just in case, I have two kids after all ) Pop it in the microwave for a at least a minute and it will stay hot a good long time (I've never timed it but I think around an hour). I think you can also keep it in the freezer if cold works better for you. The worst thing about migraines is that not every treatment works for every person or the same person every time.

I'm sorry you get them that often. Mine started at puberty and stopped before I left my teens for about a decade. Then I would have one about every 2 years.
The Dr has me on the pill. (I didn't want to be on it in the past because of the debate over it stopping ovulation or implantation, but I've had a tubal so that's not an issue at this time.) It's the placebo week that I get the headaches. I'm considering the pills that you take all the time for 3 months straight. Migraines 4 times a year rather than 12 sounds great to me.
I don't like to take medication all the time, but the insomnia thing had to be dealt with. I can deal with migraines as long as I sleep.

That sounds like hormones for sure then. That sharp drop of Estrogen and Progesterone when you stop taking the active pills can play havoc with your body.
My Dr put me on those very pills, I'm about halfway through my first pack so they haven't really "kicked in" yet so I still have what they call "break though" and JOY migraine showed up to *sigh* missed two days of work this week. I'm on a very low dose that has hormones still in the "off week". My Dr. and I are hoping that it will if not eliminate at least reduce the severity of the migraine. If not, at least I'll know when it's coming and I can take something to head it off.
If you want I can pm you the name so you can look them up before you go talk to your Dr. but it can take as long as three months before your body completely acclimates to hormone pills. So before you give up just ask her to prescripe you something for the migraines.
