I have a prayer request. Heh. Next week I start my next two online classes with Liberty, and due to the fact that I've been kinda broke the last couple of weeks, I don't have the textbooks yet. One of them I can buy as a download (and it's about $65), so I'm not too worried about that one. But the other isn't available to buy as a download, so I'd have to buy it online, and have it shipped, and this one, depending on where I buy it, is between $80-$100. I should have more money next week, but I'm afraid that I won't have it in time to do the first week's assignments Especially since I have to read the first four chapters next week, and the first test is at the end of that week... *needs a panicking smilie* I'm hoping that I can go over to B&N and buy it there, but still, I won't have money for that till next week, and I don't think I'll have the book in time...

I shall be glad to keep your financial situation in my prayers, Paischaros. On a practical note, it might be a good idea to e-mail your course professor and explain your difficulty. He might permit you a later submission deadline for your first assignment, and even a later test date for your first test.
All the best in your studies.

Do you have any used college book stores there? I know that I saved a couple hundred bucks going to one when I was in college...for that one semester

Nope. Liberty's bookstore won't have the books, cause the online courses (called DLP) are kinda separate from resident, so the bookstore doesn't carry books for the DLP courses. I mean, I can get it for, like, 60 bucks on Amazon.com marketplace, but I wouldn't have it in time for the course. I've emailed the instructor...*checks email* *blinks* Her reply is: "Connie, Welcome to class. I am glad you are excited to begin and I hope this course will be a blessing. I will allow you to have an extended deadline of Nov. 2 to submit Exam 1 but you will need to complete the Discussion board assignment for Week 1 by the due date (Oct. 28). The discussion board assignment does not require the textbook. Your assignment for Week 2 will also be due on the assigned due date (Nov. 4). It is important to stay on schedule with 8 week courses."

Hello, Paischaros. I am so pleased your course professor was flexible about the deadline.
Be sure to do the group discussion. Be chatty and make plenty of input--the best you can. The marks given on the discussion boards may seem small, but over a term they add up.
You'll be fine.
God bless.

I've run into a new problem. I'll try to be quick. I"m having computer problems again - don't know what it is about the fall. This time, what might be wrong, would cost as much as a new compy, and probably won't work after being fixed anyways. As you know, I start two more classes next week and need my computer - for that and many other things. Much prayer would be appreciated. This, among other things, as me really discouraged right now...

Sorry to read you're having this hassle, Paischaros. If your computer crashes on you, all is not lost. For about 50 cents (in some places it's free) you can have an hour's computer time in your local public library.
If you get really desperate, you can usually use a cyber cafe for about $8 per hour. If you have to go the route of a rented computer, plan ahead. Have it worked out ahead of time what you want to say on your course bulletin board. In other words, be well organized!
Right now the important practical thing is for you to back up your files NOW while you still have a computer, so that if it does crash, you've got your stuff.
Hope this helps. I'll remember you in my prayers.

Yeah, I've put my most important files on my thumb drive, and I plan on going to the university comp lab to do my school stuff...*sigh*

At least you remembered rule number one about computing...that backups are our friend.
You'll make it through, kiddo. I have faith in you.

Update: I have the textbooks for both classes. Actually reading them is another story. These chapters are long!!! In one of the books I had to read a 45 page chapter on Freud. *shudders* That was NOT fun. Anywho, and my new computer should be arriving on Tuesday! *does the happy dance* I can't wait

Excellent new, Paischaros. (And Freud, once you get used to him, is a pussycat.)
