Not yet, anyhow. No one's made a virus for Macs yet. From what I know, Macs are based on Unix, making it difficult to make a virus.

I'm told the new MACS can take Microsoft programs in a special area of their OS.

Too true. I use Symantec products on both home and and day job Macs. Doubly important if you use any Micro$oft products. Before we installed anti-virus, we had a couple of Macs at the office act as carriers for Word macro viruses. The Mac isn't affected, but any Windoze computer you pass a Word document to can be.
