Still unenployed; still hopeful. I have an interview and a job fair event today. Hopefully one of them will pan out. It's been tough, but God has been good. Somehow, the bills are getting paid and we haven't been foreclosed on yet, so that's the good thing. Still, it's getting frustrating. All I keep hearing is how great my qualifications are, and if I've had to take an assessment test, I've done really well, but they all still say, "I'm sorry, we've chosen another candidate." Irritating. But, it'll all work out eventually. God is in control and I have to believe He knows what He's doing. So, I just keep plugging away. And I've gotten about 100 pages written on one of my novels, so that's good, too! Ya'll remain in my prayers.

A hundred pages! Wow! I wish I could get that far. I'm almost to the point of taking my laptop to work and sneaking off to write occasionally. . . what? My job has no purpose in peace time except to train. You try reading the same material over and over again.

CS -- about 20-odd years ago I wrote the first draft of a novel while working a temp job. Two weeks answering a phone that hardly ever rang for investment brokers who were hardly ever in the office. Since they refused to keep me busy, I took a legal pad to work and wrote. Best job I ever had.

That's what I did while I was deployed, actually. I lugged my laptop to work and wrote there... when the radars weren't going crazy that is. Dang, you ever see what happens when a bird crosses the path or six different radars? Oh... the bird is fine, but every radar is convinced that we have incoming the size of a rather fat pidgeon.
Back to the main point, that is how I got through two short stories while I was deployed.
