Has anyone had any success in publishing on Smashwords?
Just wondering what your experience was like.

Not much success, Jacob, but I have to add that I haven't been as active about promoting them as I should be, so my experience may or may not be typical.
One thing I like is being able to track how often it's being viewed/sampled. It's given me some ideas about when promotion might be most effective in the upcoming year. But one thing I'm seeing is that for SF & fantasy, if it's categorized as Christian, it falls into a never-never-land void. Over the last year, I've been watching what's happening with a few other books in that lonely outpost (as much as possible without access to their accounts) and they don't seem to be faring any better.
Something to think about.

You might check with Kessie on this--I'm pretty sure she hangs there fairly regularly. Good luck with it! It's one of those sites I keep telling myself I'm going to delve into, and never have.

I pub'd some short stories on Smashwords, but like metal, I haven't had much success with them. Probably not enough promotion. What I hear from others is that Amazon is just a far better platform in terms of reaching people.
From a technical standpoint, Smashwords is easy to use. The style guide is well-written and easy to understand, and will serve you well even if you publish elsewhere.

Until I read it, no one could/would tell me how to find stuff like extra spaces at the end of sentences or format gaffes (such as unwanted line breaks and/or lines appearing at the bottom of pages). It walks you through formatting with enough illustrations and variations to apply to even old systems like what I have. Sweet!!!
