Surely there's something that can be done with this: www.livescience.com/strangenews/081202-body-swapping.htmlThe article shows how test subjects could be fooled into thinking they had head-hopped into someone else's body. To me it shows that we subconsciously know that our spirits, our awareness, are artificially attached to our bodies. We have to learn that we're connected, because naturally (pre-birth) we weren't connected to any body. Seems like there ought to be a good story here (not Freaky Friday). Maybe somebody figures out how to transfer their consciousness to different bodies--or how to disconnect them from bodies altogether and yet not die. Maybe long spaceflight. We could send out probes with artificial bodies and then, when the ships arrive, humans on earth could "jump" to those bodies and explore the planet--without worrying about radiation or boredom. Jeff

First off, after this Thanksgiving, I wouldn't mind having the body of a mannequin.
Second off, what if, on long space flights, physical bodies were kept in stasis, but consciousnesses were hooked up to the computer? You'd still have work and training to do in the ship. I imagine a lot of research. Then, upon arrival, you were reunited with your body.

What was that Anne Rice novel? "The Tale Of The Body Thief" I think. It seemed a good story, back when I could tolerate her style of writing. Lestat the vampire and this other guy switch bodies, and all kinds of havock ensue.
In Summa Elvetica, however, it was proposed that a person's soul is "Naturally united to their body." What's that supposed to mean?
DO our souls float around somewhere prior to conception, or does God create our soul as a result of the re-combined DNA from our parents?
What's the relationship between our consciousness and our soul?

Those, my dear Mongoose, are excellent questions to explore in a novel.
