I have an idea for an alternative history series that I started during Nano 2007 (and it has been neglected ever since).
This could be good or bad, but I have only read a tiny bit of alternative history fiction. I kinda feel I should at least be familiar with the big names for the genre. Any suggestions?

Definitely check out Harry Turtledove. His Tosev Timeline series is about aliens invading Earth just before the start of WWII. Brilliant premise. Awful writing.

Harry Turtledove is a big name in alternate history, both as a writer of alternate history stories and as an editor of alternate history anthologies. He's the only one I know of.
EDIT: Oh shoot Jeff beat me to it. Sorry, I can't think of anyone besides Turtledove.

Thanks, I'll check him out. It sounds like there is some room to improve the literary quality within the genre.
