According to the bible, I think we're all Aliens, cuz we're no longer from 'round here...
Hi, I'm known as MisterChris on many different forums. I'm an ADHD Dad who's been writing Fantasy and SciFi for, oh, about a year now.
Last NaNoWriMo (November, for those of you who aren't in the loop on that phenomenon) one of the boys in my Scout Troop asked me if I wouldn't rather actually WRITE a book instead of just 'talking about it'.
You see, back when I was a kid, I wanted to be a SciFi/Fantasy writer. I gobbled up every Heinlein, Andre Norton, Terry Brooks, Larry Niven, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Isaac Asimov, Piers Anthony, and Arthur C Clarke book I could find.
In fact, when I became Eagle scout, the council I was with gave each Eagle a 'Career Day' where they could identify what career they wanted to pursue, and they'd be paired with somebody for the day that could tell them how to make a go of it.
Well, they searched all over and finally found a guy named Dan Henderson who was a writer for the paper here. He had written a few short stories. It was the best they could do - they even mentioned to everyone (there were 200+ eagles at the banquet and their families) how hard it was to find one...
(Found out a year ago that Andre Norton lived about 50 miles north of here...)
Anyway, long story short, I took the boy up on it and cranked out a novel for my kids to read. 98,000 words.
So, the kids wanted a sequel. You always leave an opening for one, right? So I wrote them one Jan-Mar.
And then another one, Jun-Aug.
Book four is currently at 22k and is waiting in the wings until my Nano is complete. You can Buddy me at Nanowrimo.org under the username MisterChris.
The new series I'm starting this year is a SciFi one, once again a MG-YA Spec Fic.
I'm at the point of sending Query letters out for the first series. 3.5 books in a year has been a wild ride. This new series is going to be 4 books long too. I talk too much to let it go with a Trilogy.
You can run into me at ChristianWriters.com and AbsoluteWrite.com under the name MisterChris also.
Glad to have found this place, and looking forward to voting on some good Christian SpecFic in a couple days!
