Let's keep these prologues short, but not too short, and long, but not too long.
How's that for being helpful?
Okay, let me try to get more specific.
I can't see a decent prologue being shorter than, say, 300 words. Let's let that be the minimum. No one-word prologues. (Repllies and comments to someone's prologue can be that short, though.)
On the high end, well, I hate to limit anyone's creativity. But for the sake of making these prologues easy to read on our forums, let's cap the prologue entries at 2,500 words.
You don't have to cap your prologue at 2,500 words, just each prologue entry. You can do them as part 1, part 2, etc., keeping each one at or below 2,500 words.
Let's try that.
If you write a giant prologue, feel free to post it on your own Web page somewhere and give us the link. We'd love to see it. (Just please restrict it to fiction written specifically for this story, not something you've already written. And remember, no file uploads to these forums, please.)
Okay, let's rumble! Have fun!
Jeff
