No really. I have written a short story, SUICIDE EXTINCT - not tongue in cheek -Vampires in the future stowed away on a space ship. They did not travel there through time. I mean, if Vampires live forever then eventually some will ride through space on the USS Enterprise, right? My vamps have been offered Redemption too. . . Okay, you can laugh now, but I am serious. I've sent it in

Do the vampires have to carry a special cannister of their grave dirt with them?

mmm. Do they need to? If so, yes Did you see Lost Boys? They just hang in the dark cargo bay. Just kidding. The story doesn't answer that question. Happy Thanksgiving!

So in your story, the vampires will ride the USS Enterprise? Do you mean Enterprise like in Star Trek? Why would they travel away from the biggest supply of food--Earth? Why would they want to go into space? After they feed on the ship's crew they would starve to death.
So they've been offered Redemption. Have they taken it? Why would they take it? What would they gain if they gave up their vampiric life?
I saw a movie about vampires on a space ship on the SyFy channel one time. It caught me off guard. They even had armor suits on and used guns. It was weird. I can't think of the name of the movie.

I see the potential in this idea. Maybe it's not empty, unexplored space. Maybe it's a fully populated universe or galaxy (like Trek or Star Wars) and the vampires left Earth in search of a cure or a special, alien treat. I think if it's well done and not Syfy cheesy, it could be really good. Keep working on it!
----- Edit: Or rather, tell us where we can read it since you've already submitted it.

Well, in SUICIDE EXTINCT ( a short story ) my vamps have stowed away on the USS Pantarah Eve, yeah, like in Star Trek. They travel away from their food supply for a very specific reason. One of the vamps WANTs to starve to death, he wants to die, they have been offered salvation and he cannot live up to grace he's been given. I think it's good. I have submitted it, but haven't heard back on it yet. Can I let others read it if I have submitted it in hopes for publication?

Now that is hilarious, Jeff! VEIN PURSUIT. There is even a cover LOL. Okay, so I am not the first. And my story is what 800 words, this guy has a series of novels! Written by, Michael Boone? or Kirk Outerbridge. That is great!

It's a complete mock cover, including a made-up author name and series of books.
I just thought it needed to be done.

There was a novel called THE SPACE VAMPIRES that inspired the movie LIFEFORCE, some concepts of which inspired me in my own novel. I went more PARADISE LOST than schlocky sci-fi, but...there you go. Some cool concepts poor in execution can sometimes find life later in new forms.

I haven't seen Lifeforce. I'll check it out. Do you have a Vampire/space novel, Divides the Waters? "Some cool concepts poor in execution can sometimes find life later in new forms" - Wise words.

Or as Oscar Wilde is reputed to have said, "Talent borrows; genius steals."
