Am I the last person to know about this? I just ran across the site for a short film (60 some minutes, so just short of feature length, as i understand it) called Born of Hope. It's a telling of the meeting of Aragorn's parents, Arathorn and Gilraen, and the events that precipitated Aragorn's fostering in Imladris. Anyway...very well done, especially for a film that isn't being commercially distributed or anything. www.bornofhope.com/Watch_EN.html

You guys and gals might want to check out The Hunt for Gollum, which was the first attempt at a Fan Film by the folks that've made Born of Hope.... ;D www.thehuntforgollum.com/

Yep...Hunt for Gollum was a similarly well executed effort. Busy folks, those fanfilmmakers.

I just watched this. Interesting. The lack of theatrical stunts makes it actually seem more realistic than the Peter Jackson movies, in some respects. The dialog leaves much to be desired though, but I guess they didn't have enough time to show characters falling in love. I wish Gilraen could have been portrayed as being more proactive. I think they were deliberately trying to portray her first and foremost as a mother-figure, and I think that's great, but I think she needed a more important role in order to justify her place in the story and her voiceover narration at the beginning and end. Evidently not.
