Okay, we've passed the halfway point in month 1. This is the month when we're throwing all our crazy ideas into the pot to see what the stew tastes like. How much fun it's been!
But we can't actually do all the ideas we've talked about. We're going to have to do some narrowing down and straining out so that we can concentrate on a coherent story of manageable length.
I've been encouraging everyone to contribute his or her idea, regardless of whether or not it seems to fit within the framework of what has already been suggested. I want everyone to feel welcome to participate.
However, I also see that to move forward we're going to have to isolate a smaller number of things that we like best and think work best together.
So begin thinking about the ultimate collection of things we've seen so far that could work together to form the ultimate story based on our premise.
As month 1 winds down I'll be creating one or more polls to try to help us find consensus about direction on plots, races, characters, 3-act structures, and the rest. So start transitioning from "it could be anything at all" mode to "which of these great things do I like best" mode.
Give me feedback on this thread or elsewhere, too, as that will help me form the poll questions.
One other announcement: I'm planning to attend the Mount Hermon conference at the end of March-beginning of April. So we won't move into Month 2 (writing Act I) until after the first of April.
