Thank you ChristianSoldier, Kristen and everyone for your prayers!
A large local employer called My Beautiful Wife for a phone interview concerning a full-time job. She passed the phone interview and is supposed to go in for a formal interview. If accepted she will start on March 15. The catch is that it is for less than half of what she made last year. As I'm working for a healthy chunk less than in '08, we will be just squeaking by.
Please pray that we discern the LORD's plan for this opportunity and that he will bless our health and finances.

Still praying, journeyman! You're certainly not alone in trying to figure out how to do more with less in this day and age. I pray his plan for you will be abundantly clear as your wife continues through this interview process, and that whatever he decides, that you will have peace about his ability to provide your needs.

Praying too. I used to work in an abusive job situation and my heart goes out to your wife.

Thank you j2starshine. I'm glad you are no longer in that situation.
My Beautiful Wife had her formal interview on Friday. The job does have good benefits and it's permanent. We'll wait on the LORD for his direction about this and any other opportunities and see what happens!

What a relief, though it's not a full relief, I know.
Sometimes I think God keeps me relatively poor because if I had money I wouldn't trust Him anymore. Praying to trust Him right now, regardless of my fear of checking the bank balance.

Jeff Nothing like a comfortable income level to take your eyes off the true provider, eh? (Not that I would know. We live mostly on miracles here at our house. ) Knowing God provides somehow still doesn't keep my heartrate down as I log into the online banking page...

Jeff and beckyminor, I have often prayed Proverbs 30:7-9, "Two things I asked of You, Do not refuse me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me, Give me neither poverty nor riches; Feed me with the food that is my portion, That I not be full and deny You and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or that I not be in want and steal, And profane the name of my God. "
Thank you Andy for your prayers!

I prayed that in my youth when I was idealistic and foolish (kidding). Sometimes I think He's granted that prayer above all others. Now I sometimes wish for Him to fudge on the upper end a little.
And Becky, I hate logging in to the online banking site. It gives me so much stress. I avoid it unless I know there's a ton there. Like I'm avoiding it right now, as a matter of fact...
Using it as an "opportunity" to rely on Him instead of mammon.

The more I study the scriptures the more evidence I see that the LORD is always true to His promises and blesses us exactly as scripture says. That being said, I know how hard it is to wait on that provision. It can be a panicky time. One of my pastors had a great sermon on Kingdom finances and he said that fear corals our expectations. Ultimately, with the enemy's help, we can talk ourselves out of the blessing that God has for us. It helped me deal with some of the negative financial thoughts that have been popping up lately.

My Beautiful Wife has advanced one more stage in the selection process. We're waiting for the final word, but it looks encouraging.
