My dear wife got fired today. In one respect it's a great relief to have her out of an abusive situation. We do need the money to pay our bills. Please pray that the LORD will meet our needs and provide additional income.

Sorry to hear about the loss of income, journeyman, although if that situation was abusive, I guess it might be a change for the better. Praying that the Lord shows you how He can provide in any situation...times like these are great testimony builders.
Be encouraged! Jesus himself told us He will provide: Matthew 6:25 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Praying for you and your family.

The Lord does indeed provide, often in the most unexpected ways. Rely on Him -- He is faithful.
Praying for God to strengthen you and your family as you go through a challenging time.

Thank you Metalikhan, He is always faithful. beckyminor, I read that scripture "at random" yesterday, now I know why. Thank you for your prayer and bringing that scripture to mind again.

Oh, I'm so sorry! My husband and I have been there, too. It's very scary, but God sure does come through. I'll be praying for you to have peace. And maybe even a little excitement! God has something wonderful for your wife!

Thank you Jeff! Thank you morwena! Thank you pixydust! We are placing our trust in the Lord. My mother-in-law came to town yesterday and my wife spent the day with her. She took us out to dinner and at the end of the day we had a full house of laughing people, with my mother-in-law, our daughter and granddaughter, and us! God is so good. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us!

We've been there too. My husband is now going back to school to become a teacher, and we are learning tough lessons about God's perfect timing. His grades the first time he went to college were not good so he had to appeal to get in, the last day to register for classes he found out he was accepted. Had to appeal for financial aid, the day before the payment was due, got notice of his loans, not just enough for school tution and books but enough for his calculated need which includes "housing and transportation" i.e. house note and truck note at least for a few months to allow us to use my income to catch up other bills and get some savings built up. And this was just for the spring semester, summer and fall are separate financial aid calculations.
Are there unempolyment benefits available to her? If she was fired due to downsizing, especially because of this economy there may be, it's not as much as her paycheck would be but it's a stop-gap from having to dip too heavily in savings or family member's pockets, even if they wouldn't mind.

JenLenaMom, you guys are going through some challenging times. I pray that the LORD will bless you with more than enough .
My beautiful wife has applied for unemployment. This job was through a temp agency and she has good relations with the temp agency. She has asked for another assignment and we hope somthing shows up soon. I was laid off for part of last year, as was she. We have no reserves of any kind now. I have faith that God will provide and we are not allergic to work. :-)

Yes, God definitely provides, and many times its not in the way you expect or until right on the day of. My husband was laidoff for almost a year and we had nothing but God, each other (and our 4 young children), and our health. God provided food for us, provided money when our daughter needed surgery, sold our house right when our unemployment ran out (I could go on and on about God's faithfulness during that bleak dark year). My faith was shattered and rebuilt.
It is scary to go through something like that, but I saw God more clearly than I ever have. May you see him more clearly as well!
