I'd like to ask you prayer warriors for a kindly mention to God on behalf of my husband and me as we undertake some major repairs on the house. The heavy rains of the last couple of weeks revealed new leaks in our elderly roof, one of which was large enough to crack parts of the ceiling and fill a selection of buckets. (But the area we patched last year held — yea! I haven't been on the roof yet — too much lightning accompanying these repeating downpours — so I'm not yet sure if we'll be able to get away with just patching this time. Something tells me we'll have to re-roof the whole thing. One of this weekend's ventures — other than assessing what we need up there — is to see about scaffolding. The back of the house is two stories high; but we don't know whether renting or building our own scaffold will fit better into our strait-jacketed, shrink-wrapped budget. (We'll think about replacing sheet-rock inside later — gotta stop the outside from coming in first.) Anyway, I would sure appreciate any prayer for our safety, for smoothing our way, or even for good weather as we undertake this challenge. Thanks.

Prayers for safety...no kidding! May your investigation of what repairs you need go smoothly, and hopefully you will find the financially least painful way to conquer the project.

Will do, Metalikhan! My parents were in that situation last summer--we've got a rather ancient and slowly decaying home, as well!

Thank you. **sigh** Got up on the roof to see what we need to do in between more rounds of storms. The whole roof -- not just patching this time. Scaffolding to be found or made, yep. I can do it without a roofing nailer although one would be nice; I'd rather not develop one arm that looks like it belongs to Popeye. Ah, well. Maybe by the end of summer, I'll have a whole new adventure to tell -- The Peaks of the Citadel Redux. Thogmaster, I'll keep you and your ancient domicile in my prayers, too. We're thankful God provides us with places to live even though sometimes the city doesn't understand about His timing and provision.

Wow Metal! Sorry to hear about your house. Huge projects like a new roof can be so hard. Prayers away...

You certainly do have my prayers, Metalikhan. I don't know what your financial circumstances are, but I do know Habitat for Humanity helps families who are strapped for cash to re-roof their houses. If all else fails, you might want to explore that avenue.

Thanks for the tip, Teskas. I've heard of H4H over in the urban part of the metro, but I don't know if they come out this far. I'll check it out.

I'll ask the Lord to give you repairing grace; and surround you with His protection in high places.
