One of my nieces and her husband have a difficult time ahead with their children. They recently found that their 2 year old son has some kind of vision problem; he is unable to see anything closer than a couple of feet with his center vision. They don't yet know if this is because of a genetic birth defect or damage while he was in the incubator (preemie baby), so they don't know how much (if any) correction will be possible.
At nearly the same time, they noticed their 6 month old girl seemed to have one arm that wasn't developing the same as the other. They relayed news from the pediatrician a few days ago. The baby was born without a shoulder joint and without an elbow joint. For her, the challenge ahead will be in keeping the muscles strong to prevent atrophy and in the possibility of progressive, implanted joints that have to be surgically replaced as she grows.
I ask that you pray for God's healing and comforting hand on this young family. If you have a long-term prayer list, I also ask that you remember them in your prayers from time to time.
On behalf of all my family, I thank you.

What hard news for them! Nothing stretches a person's faith like circumstances that impact their children...and for them to have two issues at once--my heart goes out to them.

Wow that sounds terrible what's happening to them. I pray God will lay his healing hand on all of them.
(That just sounded very cliché but oh well).
