Is anyone familiar with a tulpas? It's a being created by thought and has something to do with Hindu mysticism. Any links to more information would be appreciated. I have some information, but I'm building a plotline and need a little more research on not just how to create the thing, but how to destroy it as well. Thanks.

Very weird. I'd never heard of it, but it looks like speculative writers have latched onto it, and rightfully so.
Weird.

I agree wierd. I had seen the wikipedia stuff; that was actually the first place I looked. I'm trying to find some more stuff on the woman who "discovered" this thing in Tibet back in the 1890's I think it was. I was wondering if there were any other sources that anyone had heard of besided her.
I'll keep looking.

The first time I heard of it was in an X-Files episode about a homeowner's association run by a neat freak. It was fascinating, and for one of the more "paranormal" concepts, it made a certain amount of sense.

Yeah, it really does give a whole new dimension to imaginary friends.
I'm thinking of using one though as an antagonist. He's been created actually by a group of people (talk about the results of a think tank) and he has gotten out of their control. Nobody else can destroy him, so they have to find the group that created him and either convince them to collectively destroy him or kill them so he will die a natural? death.
I don't know; like I said this is just a bare plot line and very little other substance. I'm still researching the phenomenon. I'm not really up on Tibetan mysticism.

Reminds me of Showdown, with Marsuvees Black being created by the words written in the books of history. (Ted Dekker)
