Hello, I am a fairly new writer and am having trouble with foreshadowing. There is a major character that shows up near the middle of the book, but I really want to foreshadow her before she makes her grand entrance. She is also the main characters love interest, and time traveler, which is why I put this thread in Science Fiction.
I want her foreshadowing to make the reader go "OH!" when she appears and want to go back and find the parts that reference her earlier on, but I want it to be believable and realistic. Any ideas?

You could have your MC find something that could only be uniquely her's that she accidentally left somewhere while time traveling. Have fun!

Does she make her appearance back in time or the future? If the future, you can leave something that belongs to her in an old trunk, or a drawer. If the past, you could give her an ancestor. Put a portrait on a wall, or a photo in an album, and have her the "spitting image" of her great-great-great grandmother.

He finds a cryptic note from her that makes references to something that's going to happen either just before or when they meet. He doesn't actually figure the note out until the event occurs.

... or he finds clues and hints that relate to immediate problems and only he knows about the hints and clues. When they meet, she makes reference to them.

Oh maybe he could find her diary somewhere with entries referring to him before he even met her.
