I have been a part of the Anomaly a couple years now. Many of you have encouraged me, prayed for me, and given me some great advice (real life and writing). Thank you my friends. It is in part because of your support and friendship that I can now say my book has finally found a home. No man is an island and neither is a writer (at least not this one . Marcher Lord Press has asked me to join their ranks and I have said yes. It is both exciting and scary at the same time. God seems to have all sorts of surprises for me this year lol. However, I want to let you all know that I'll still be around and still be the same old morwena. That will not change Morgan Busse

It's my honor to be able to be the first to reply with my sincere congratulations! This is truly awesome to hear!
Browsing this forum since I joined nearly two years ago now, it's been a fascinating experience to be able to follow and sometimes even sample the works of the Christian visionaries that post here. I'm eager to be able to read them and support their authors, and from the little I've heard about your novel, it's definitely one I'm interested in. It's also very encouraging to hear a success story, when so many passionate creative undertakings of all sorts are abandoned.
So... I believe I saw you mention your novel from time to time. Is this the same novel that you described as "adult fantasy set in a different world" fairly recently in the thread "What Agents want vs what people like to read" in the Space Bar? That's exactly my all-time favorite genre! Can you tell us a little more about it, or will we have to hold our breaths in suspense?

Thanks guys! Bainespal, yes, that is the book. Here is the blurb I have on my blogsite: As the Shadonae rise in the West and war threatens the North, a young woman discovers she is not human… Banished from her village, Rowen Mar finds sanctuary in the White City using a leather glove to cover the strange mark on her hand. She lives in fear that if she touches another person, the power inside her will trigger again, a terrifying power that allows her to see the darkness inside the human heart… But those called cannot hide forever. For the salvation of her people lies within her hand. Daughter of Light. Sorry, no elves, no orcs, no dragons, no lost kings or princes and definitely no prophecies lol. But it does have an assassin

I keep saying it where ever I run into you, but awesome! Keep us posted on how the process leading up to your release goes, and of course remind us to buy, read, review, and the like!

Sorry, no elves, no orcs, no dragons, no lost kings or princes and definitely no prophecies lol. But it does have an assassin This definitely sounds like an intriguing premise, and I think the absence of traditional folklore races will make the novel fit in with a certain subset of modern adult high fantasy (not that I know anything; I'm just thinking about a few series I've read/heard about). I'm curious, though... why do you emphasize that there are "definitely" no prophecies? Do you think that prophecies are even more of a cliche than elves and dragons, or do you just dislike prophecies in fantasy fiction?

It does seem, sometimes, that the main character in most high fantasy has been prophesied to do this or that. Hard to avoid sometimes, but it sounds intriguing. Congratulations. Forgive me if a slightly quirky thought came to mind as I read your blurb: "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadonae knows...."
Seriously, though, great premise.

Yeah, I see prophecies as another cliche. I wanted to do something different, where the person has to make a choice to do the hard things rather than it was prophesied they would. There is something about seeing the long dark road ahead and choosing it anyway because you know that by your sacrifice, others will be saved. Its a lot like our Christian walk. We choose to lay down our own wants, our own plans, our own comforts. We give so that others might hear about Jesus and be saved.

This is WONDERFUL!!!! So happy for you, morewena! Uber Congrats!!!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!! I've always tried to stay away from the prophesy idea but I'm starting to realize when we run from cliches we are also giving up an opportunity to take something familiar and make it new--like, for an example, as a threat--what if a prophesy says your character will kill someone and drink their blood, but he's studying to be a priest. Cliches are, a lot of times, just familiar concepts that have been repeated over and over in the same way. Don't give up on them entirely, they can be fun to play with.
