Hello everyone! I've been lurking a bit and reading some posts and decided to jump in and introduce myself. Over the past decade, I have written (sporadically) and published about a dozen short stories in various small press magazines (some now on Smashwords). As of late, I have discovered some fantastic Christian suspense writers, like Ted Dekkar and the perhaps lesser known (yet, just as entertaining) Travis Thrasher and James Rubart. I published one short story in Golden Visions Magazine, and I am now working on a novel. I'm looking for an encouraging group for good discussions and maybe a critique or two.
By day, I'm your friendly, neighborhood pharmacist. Cheers!

Big welcome justinjoesherman!
Hope your writing activity continues to produce fruit and especially the novel.
I got pointed here from a writer who didn't even read speculative fiction, but she knew about Jeff's site.
In my day job am just writing a review for "Pharmacological Reviews" so I am not a complete stranger to pharmacy...

Hi, and welcome to the board! It's always fun to have new writers around! I'll have to look up those lesser-knowns you mentioned.
Also nobody ever mentions Sigmund Brower. Isn't he a thriller writer, too?

Welcome Justinjoesherman. I'm glad you found our little corner of the universe, and I hope you enjoy the banter, encouragement, and debate around here. And if any gnomes in camo stop you in one of the halls here and start asking questions, just ignore them. They do that to all the new folks. Harmless, really, though annoying.

Thanks for the warm welcome, cdeb, Kessie, Yoda, and Becky! I am looking forward to conversing with all of you in this little corner of the Universe! cdeb - Pharmacological Reviews is an excellent journal. Although I do have a basic science background, my research projects have more of a clinical focus. Are you by any chance a faculty member in a medical profession? Kessie - I'm definitely looking forward to discussing how to improve my writing - thanks! Funny that you should mention Brower, as I checked my shelf and actually have his book _Out of the Shadows_. I'll have to actually read it now! I'm currently a big Travis Thrasher fan. I recently read _Isolation_ and was impressed with his ability to pace well and infuse suspense without being vulgar or being overly descriptive with the "bad" parts. Yoda - thanks again! Becky - Gnomes in camo asking questions? Yikes, that really would be scary! Have a great evening, everyone!

Hi there. I'm an off and on lurker, so you may not see much of me. It all depends on how the wind blows (unless you use solar sails, in which case, it's powered by light instead).

Hi, Marshwriter. Great quote from Mr. Thurman, too. That would be a great quote to put over my writing desk, because it makes me want to ... you know, write! Thanks!

Hi Justin, Sorry been out for a while, but I wanted to extend a warm welcome to you and ask for a refill on some Vigamox 1 gtt QID OD x 7 days. Your science background is certainly an asset for speculative writing, as well as being in a profession where you get to meet a lot of interesting characters, er, patients. Are you hospital based or at a pharmacy? Oh, and in regard to the gnomes in camo, don't worry about them. They just watched "Acts of Valor" and are SEAL team wannabes! <Yes, poseurs, all of you, especially you with the pointy red cap> *runs from horde of little bearded men, wearing ghillie suits* Anyway, glad to have you on board!
