Hello, all. I just discovered this board (in a round about fashion), and thought it might be a good place to hang out for a while. My name is Hank, and I write (sometimes). Right now, I've got a series of blog posts celebrating the 25th anniversary of the old Max Headroom TV series. You can find it here. Also, I'm working on a couple of other projects. One is a series of stories featuring a covert group of Texas Rangers as paranormal investigators, sort of like the Wild, Wild West (TV series) meets the X-Files. The other project is taking three of my favorite Old Time Radio heroes (Rocky Jordan, Chandu the Magician and KC Smith of the Ghost Corps) and put them together in a novella set in 1930's Cairo. Anyway, I'm hoping to find good advice, inspiration and camaraderie here. Thanks for the safe haven!

Welcome! This is a great place and I hope you find what you are looking for to encourage you on your journey!
I've been thinking about combining some of my favorite genres: Cozy mysteries & fantasy; Westerns (though...a favorite when i was a kid) & fantasy. I'm beginning to see some westerns/fantasy popping up. What time frame is your Texas Rangers/paranormal investigators? It sounds cool!

Oh wow, sounds like you have varied and entertaining interests! I look forward to seeing you around the forums. :-)
I mostly write YA urban fantasy, meaning it's people running around in modern-day Phoenix with magic powerz, trying to save the world and stuff. Nothing published, but my stories do entertain my husband. :-)

Howdy!
I do enjoy Wild, Wild West, so the idea intrigues me.

Thanks for the welcome, all! What time frame is your Texas Rangers/paranormal investigators? It sounds cool! Well, this is where it gets interesting. As the Rangers as a whole have been around since even before the beginning of the Republic era in Texas, and is still operational even today, I have notes on "Wild West" era stories, but the one I'm working on now is set in the modern era.

If you're anywhere near Waco, Texas -- or can get there -- there's a Texas Rangers Museum...

No...not yet. The protagonist in my modern-era Ranger Co. X story is a college history professor who stumbled on to the group and was subsequently drafted into service.

Hey Cleireac; Welcome to the outer limits of literary endeavor. You are aware that we're a bunch of unusual people here? Not a few of us are actually space aliens (wannabes anyway) cleverly disguised as struggling Christian Sf authors (or wannabes).... <<#>> OW! what was that for! Well, I'm struggling anyway even if you're not. Well, I don't speak for everybody [thank God for that] (Do you mind, I'm typing here.) As I was saying, I'm one of the Space Opera people, Hard Science Fiction you know; space battles, exploding space ships and whizz bang future technology. Not all the Fantasy crowd is completely comfortable with us gear heads. But we do get along, and oh, if anyone brings up Garden Gnomes... well we haven't had an outbreak for a year or two now. The tribute of virtual chocolate chip cookies is still working so pull up a hover chair, grab a beverage of your choice and join the fun. (Disclaimer: the comments of this contributor do not reflect the opinions of the adminsitrators or anyone else that we've been able to find. He just wandered in one day and started submitting stuff.) Welcome aboard and enjoy the trip. Write on Bro. Bear His Flame; Be the Light! SGD dave

Again, thanks for all the kind words of welcome.
Just out of curiosity, given my interests right now, which subforum should I be posting to now?
