Hey, fellow Anomalians. Don't know how many stargazers there are among you, but I thought I would mention the upcoming transit of Venus (when Venus crosses the face of the sun) that will be occurring June 5/June 6. This will be the last one of this century; the next one will be in 2117. Depending on weather and general visibility, most of North America should be able to see at least the beginning of the transit. The Southwest and West coast will have the best view of its beginning. **sigh** But New Zealand and Australia looks like the place to be to see almost all of the transit. Do take the recommended precautions for protecting eyes for viewing. Using eclipse glasses and welding goggles are just two methods to prevent damage from looking at the sun. There are several astronomy sites with information and blogs about it. Astronomy Today, Sky and Telescope, Edmund Scientifics, Wikipedia... Any search using "transit of Venus" will give you plenty of sites about this phenomenon. And any of those sites are great research sources for SF/space stories. Happy & safe viewing!

Oh, yeah. And there's a partial lunar eclipse tonight, but western US and Canada may be the only part of the continent to get a good view.
