First Point: Psalm 19 tells us that the heavens declare the glory of God. I have learned that even the constellations were assigned by God to tell His story. They do not dictate days as astrologers would believe; rather, they tell (and foretell) the story God Himself wrote from the very beginning. See bethlehemstar.net and E.W. Bullinger's The Witness of the Stars for more.
Second Point: "Heaven" could be understood as "sky."
Third Point: Revelation tells us God will create a new heaven and a new earth.
Speculative Questions: Might the "new heaven" be a new story written in the sky by God about the next epoch (we need a bigger word) of His history? What might that story be? Will the redeemed play a role in it? Are we living in the "first" story or a subsequent masterwork by the Ultimate Creator? Will the "old" story be remembered?
There's a whole spectrum of possibilities. Let's discuss...
