I've got to ask, what is dieselpunk?

Dieselpunk is steampunk's younger, darker, and cooler cousin. Instead of being in the Victorian era, it's in the years between WW1 and WW2, with the timeline able to be stretched to start at the beginning of WW1 and end at the beginning of the Korean War. Diesel is the main source of fuel, and the aesthetic is art deco/modernist. It draws on the classic pulps, early superhero comics, and noir hardboiled detective stories. Basically, think Indiana Jones, The Rocketeer, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Tris: I will add Port Yonder Press to my list (although as short as it is, I'm sure I will remember without having to write it down ) Stormiel: Thanks! I can never find enough of that genre either. It's funny, because I once lamented to God how hard it is to find Science Fiction that has any kind of faith component unless it's some ethereal "universe" or "force." When I finished my tirade, a little voice said, "then you write it." Oh. Never in my dreams did I guess how difficult it was (but immensely rewarding) and that finding a publisher would be so difficult. But God's timing is not my own. I'll find the right one at the right time. Of course, I have to submit it first . . .

I went from non-fiction to fiction with my near-future speculative novel involving genetic engineering, technology, totalistic governments and the fight for freedom. Now, I'm working on a series involving an updated Quatermass character that is tasked with solving the mysteries no one else can solve. Tagline: "What if there was something worse than aliens found at Roswell?"

For the steampunk/dieselpunk discussion. I've already coined the term, "jetpunk" for the coming evolution in the punk series. Jets to rockets with pointy fins and the shiny silver suits they wore.

Sorry it took a while to get back to this thread -- teaching school doesn't leave much time for forums.
Stormiel, my novels are : Advent Phoenix, Dictates of Conscience and Raklin. The western is tentatively titled Redline, but that can change depending on whether it goes traditional publisher or self pub.
Shadow -- thanks for the Sparks Nevada info. Gonna definitely try to find a copy somewhere.
kmorvant -- ooh jetpunk sounds shiny! Can't wait. Sounds like Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers and I grew up on those series!

Shadow, oh no you didn't! You didn't get me hooked on a radio show that I have no way of listening to. You villain! First thing I did was check out amazon and alibris, then found it on wikipedia. I love radio shows like this, but we live in a dead zone and can't get any decent reception. Guess I'll have to be content with episodes of Captain Proton on Voyager!

Check out internet radio. Almost every radio station on the air also broadcasts on line.

I do I've discovered that I like unusual stuff because I get bored easily. I love plot-driven stories that are full of unique ideas.

Keep in mind that as several venues for publication close, more open their doors. Residentail Aliens was where I first published and now we have the Cross and the Cosmos. The latter offers a full suite of editing to bring your work to its full potential.
The ad out of the way, I adore a good Space Opera, but don't have the patience to write it. I'll stick to my short stories!

stormiel, Not until I get free from my Publish America contract so it will be a while (yeah, I was one of the gullible ones who didn't realize what I was getting into.) Send me an email and I'll shoot you a free e-copy. Just let me know what format you'd like. tamrionbooks@yahoo.com
