Who else writes Sci Fi?

I was just wondering who else writes Sci Fi? What are your stories about?

Me! The two I'm working on right now can be summarized as follows:

1. A soft science-fiction trilogy about a group of humans (specifically a brother and sister within the group) who are secretly involved with a war in another world to protect Earth from invasion. Teleporting, cool beasties, snarky love interest with a bionic limb...lots of fun stuff.

2. A dystopian novel (a projected series) about a group of conservative Christians who have fled into deep space to hide from an oppressive, multi-planet totalitarian regime. The first book is mainly about a rebellious, government-raised military student who decides to join them out of a desire for freedom. As you might imagine, things don't go well...

I have lots of other science-fiction IDEAS, but none of the others have blossomed into whole books yet. When/if they do, they'll probably be massive, unwieldy, and long like these two are.

Me, too, although I write fantasy as well as SF.

A SF example already published is "Bloomship" in Issue 9 of The Cross and the Cosmos. I'm researching for two sequel stories, one involving Oa'phrok and one featuring Kaullen.

One of my current projects is a combo -- science fantasy. Most of the characters are elves (because of their longevity for space travel), but the ships, cryogenics, cybernetics, and other story features and details are SF. The first of those stories will be in the delayed but upcoming Book of Sylvari from Port Yonder Press. I was so captivated by the concepts in that story, I've been writing a collection, starting with the first colony ship (a major tragic disaster) and working through the subsequent ships and their navigators. LOL And as if that weren't enough challenge, some of the stories have experimental structures. ;D

Well, I do, of course. I have two sci-fi worlds - one's Earth-future and the other is a continuation of Ekelek (the world I originally started for med. fantasy) - so you have the Eluit, Dnarvek, and Kisgolant (Elves, Dwarves, and Dragons) in space as well as the humans.

The story I sent in for Different Dragons (vol. 2) as well as the one I'll have appearing in TC2 are both set in Ekelek: DD is soft sci-fi and TC2 is fantasy.

Another sci-fi writer here as well.

Mine are space-operas about genetically-created telepaths seeking freedom from a government that considers them weapons and not human. I've written three books in that universe -- one is complete and ready for submittal to agents/publishers. The problem is finding someone willing to take Christian Sci-fi. Aside from Marcher Lord Press, the options are thin indeed.

One of the three is for a more secular audience, so that one has a greater chance of being published. The problem I'm running into is taking the time to actually finish it. My motivation coffer is empty of late.

Almarquardt, you might try Port Yonder Press. The publisher does both Christian and mainstream and like sci fi with lots of action.

I also write sci fi and have three books out on Amazon under my own label. My fourth one is a break from the series the others belong in...This one is western set on Mars.

I write sci-fi. I have written a LOTR style adventure/quest sci-fi called Merlania

His gift allows him to perceive the spirits haunting the scattered ghost towns, demonic entities who inhabit the tortured remains of humanity's lost souls. Suddenly, piecing together the events that led to civilization's demise won't be an easy task.

Traveling from one dead town to the next, Eldrik encounters the Spirit of Barstow, who warns him that the world is being reforged, and prophesies that before the end he'll have a choice to make...

But Eldrik's predicament is only compounded when he meets Sarah, a prideful war machine with deadly human intelligence, one of the horrific creations of Major General Joseph Cherno Montaneau. She may have some answers, but Eldrik doesn't like what he hears, especially when he learns what the remnants of humanity have become in his absence.

Eldrik is imprisoned by Montaneau, a brilliant military leader, who believes that Eldrik's vision will give humanity the edge it needs to overcome the invading force he believes is alien. And his plan to cauterize the planet without first warning the other colonies is only the beginning...

Unable to convince the Major General of the reality of the spiritual warfare humanity is facing, Eldrik is finally forced to choose between his dream of a simple life or stopping Montaneau, and halting his crusade for Neo-Genesis.

I've really only gotten anywhere with one story and its a work in progress. Its about a slave who is trying to earn her freedom and save her father with the help of a telepathic smuggler and an undercover militia operative.

Hopefully it will be more interesting than it sounds lol. I'm terrible with short summaries...

I write Science Fiction as well, Space Opera was my first love.

I've created a Creation universe, peopled it with various sentient races, mostly allied with Mankind and made the bad guys to be mostly demon possessed (Abyssian Infested) sentients.

I've also started working in near and far future extrapolations from our own "reality". All are based around Christian thematic elements.

One outlier is a "Shard Universe" novel I've started which is now stalled. It's not a multiverse, more like the original creation shattered into many shards where each one emphasizes one of the characteristics of God's original universe.

It is Science Fiction but the "Science" is different from the science we understand in our "Shard Universe".

There's a lot of us out there.

I write Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. Edit it as well - I have two published anthologies to my credit and soon a third. Of Fur and Fire, Time Traveling Coffers and Different Dragons.

My first book, Winter Awakening, is post-apocalyptic - my favorite genre. God's Gift should be coming out later this year and is a mix including first contact, Christian Speculative and apocalyptic/disaster. (Disaster movies - my guilty pleasure.) There will be a whole series based in my Five Systems/The Borders universe.

I tend to cross genres. Makes for more interesting stories.

My poison is mostly fantasy, but I have a weakness for a good space opera. I didn't realize I had this appetite until I read the Halo novels by Eric Nylund, then I was forever lost.

I write SF.
The time when I grew up Sci-fi was reserved for the visual media side of the genre-shows my age...
Currently at the beginning of my career. So far only 2 short stories published or accepted for publication but both SF.
First is a far future space opera, second is current hard SF. To be found in The Cross and the Cosmos and Different Dragons, respectively.

I have a couple of fantasy stories brewing, but I expect to write mainly SF, especially as I go for longer forms.

I do as probably evidenced by my introduction thread, and the question isn't so much what my stories are about, as much as what aren't they about. Which easily enough, is romance.
Other than that, I cover pretty much everything else. Space opera, dieselpunk, occasional steampunk, dystopian, post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk, and even a combined parody of 50s space opera and hardboiled detective fiction.
